Unbiased means that I neither like nor dislike the product but state fact. It's a default deny application that requires knowledge and experience to use.

If you have to use a guide by someone else it means you do not understand how it works.
Many (perhaps most) AV provide similar and good / adequate protection. People tend to use what they like, what seems to run well on their computer(s), an opinion.
I do not understand your 2d comment above. Eg, @Andy Ful posts pages of detailed content about his apps that tweak windows, and continues to answer questions about his apps. He also provides WHHL that has a couple of ON/OFF switches that can be used without user reading his content or understanding how it works, what the app is doing to the OS.
Cruelsister posts videos with her recommended settings for CF. Some folks tweak MS Defender with DefenderUI or ConfigureDefender, others do not. So...?

Guys thanks for all the nice input.

I had to laugh at a few posts, it strikes me funny when people are bluntly honest. I love it. Probably because we live in a world where people are rarely, just blunt and honest, without intending harm, of course. Everything is so "weak" now days, can't say this, can't say that etc. So thank s that was fun.

Now can I re-iterate... If we consider the 3 consumer products that I am aware of (there may be lots more) that are default deny. Being Comodo FW/CS, Webroot with the setting mentioned in the 2nd post (thank you), and PC Matic. Would you consider them equal as far as protection with the settings we have been discussing, or would you rate them #1, #2, and #3

You should take a look at Voodooshield nka Cyberlock. The author, Dan, reads & posts here. It runs aok with AVs.

Oh I forgot, in case any are wondering about, "why not just use defender"...

Well I have read most of the posts here at MWT's and think that the input even though varied was spot on. My only complaint with WD is when it comes to file transfer/copy/move, WD is much slower on my machine than other protection. Now maybe its my PC, it is not top tier, but its not on the bottom either. So I think it is WD.

Yes, for people not using SSD it will drain your HDD if you do not add proper exclusions and even after doing that it is quite intensive on disk usage. I think for the amount of disk usage WD takes, there are better options; however if you have a very fast NVMe SSD you'll be fine most of the time.

So stop throwing the professionals at me while still sharing the only thing you have that people can use what they want. How about schooling me in facts with your knowledge since you seem intent on discrediting me.

Show me how novice to average users can follow one of these guides, leave the forum and never return and not have issues with a set up they do not understand with a software too advanced for them.

It's 2024 tho, if you use a PC accept it's software. PC has settings, everything has settings. If you can't afford that then leave. If you go to any AV there are settings for them, people complain to much about it for no reason. If you don't want any click an option, then why not just use WD? it won't requiere you to do anything. So why is people complaining tho?

I use software 90% of the users in MT couldn't handle. I don't mention this software to others or push them to try it even though I could build a guide to do so because it would be unethical to chance them misconfiguring it. I don't push I even though it's among my favorite. Most users coming here can barely navigate windows. Now I'm not talking about the enthusiast, as there are only so many here the rest are average to novice users.

Why should how I set up my computer concern you? In regards Comodo Firewall.....I watch Cruelssister's video. She says do this, I do that. Check this, I check that, and on to the end. Simple, easy to follow, and only takes minutes. Again, very simple, easy to follow, and it works. And, in spite of your being determined to worry, no issues with a setup I don't understand, using software too advanced for me.

What is wrong with people using the software to learn the software?

Absolutely nothing. If we don't use it, we'll never learn. The leave it alone until you've got an 'expert' to teach you is ludicrous. There will never be an expert to sit beside me and guide me through, so I do it myself, making my mistakes - some serious, and fixing them by process of elimination.

And Cruelsister is something of an expert with Comodo Firewall. Her videos are my tutor.

Who is pushing anything? OP asked some question about configuration of a specific software. And when people explain and help him with info, people start complaining about pushing what?

Nothing its fine for the enthusiast they just need to quit telling novice to average users its easy just follow this guide. Misconfiguration of systems is one of the leading causes of vulnerability aside from lack of security patches and upgrades. What starts it is the little snide remarks that prompt this but it seems no one pays any mind to these. But then come 50 users to hammer one user for speaking up. Bunch of thugs I tell ya, couldn't stand on their own feet to save their souls.

Its not hard to understand that Cruelsis sparked this with a little snide remarks of cant speak on it, trying to cause issue, but make sure you all bow down to her. (these statements not directed at you @Digmor Crusher .)

She really bugs you, doesn't she? It's difficult to understand sometimes, but forgetting about Comodo Firewall, some of us use other software that we know nothing about, that can also trash a system. We don't wait for an 'expert' to show us how it works, guiding us through it like a naive child. We download and begin playing with it - sometimes to our peril, but we manage. Just like so many of us have managed with Comodo, for years, without even knowing how to write a rule.

Agree, as for myself, I visit the vendors forums as well, and learn from what others are posting and the solutions provided. I also try not to use anything over my head (in my case) where I would get tick happy and end up neutering its security. Not a slam against anyone here, my friends, but 3 apps I will not use are VoodooShield (Cyberlock) where even danb mentioned it is geared more for the business user (IIRC), also COMODO and ESET with it's myriad settings options.

Using F-Secure (and GlassWire), Bitdefender and AVG free on my PC's, which I know and understand, helps lessen any oops, learning curves for me :)

Hi friend. I don't know you, you seem very knowledgable, so I appreciate your opinion. I want to ask a question, and it is really none of my business, just out of curiosity. Do you and CS have a past, I mean like, were you boyfriend and girlfriend, or maybe engaged, or even married? In a couple posts you seem aggravated at her, and I must apologize as I said it's none of my business, it's just new member curiosity.
