For most normal home users, that feature is actually a great basic check mark that automatic help reduce the risk of clicking on the wrong type of url/s.

Web of Trust and it was a bit controversial and based on user ratings, now it is commercial. McAfee SiteAdvisor was the first major one with Norton SafeWeb shortly after.
