K7 is an Indian company, fairly well known in its home country, much less so internationally, although it is beginning to make a name for itself.
For several years now, it has been offering its flagship product: K7

In this 2025 version, there are very few major changes, but K7 puts its MAT AI to the fore.
The product is not configured, as the publisher wants it to be accessible to all, which is what I do.
Let's see what it can do.

Interface :

The interface is very simple, with a strong blue accent. Above all, it differs from that of other versions of the antivirus, which retain a common shape.
The software is very light, which I appreciate.

Web protection: 10/10
All links are blocked by K7.

Fake crack : 1/1
All installations were blocked by K7.

Malware Pack : Remaining 36 files out of 247.
I expected everything but this.
During startup, the malware begins to show its face. K7 will try to remove it, but the machine will be infected.
Then, a piece of malware using PowerShell proved recalcitrant despite K7's warnings, so I decided to reboot the machine and continue the test.
But what followed wasn't any help, as a BATCH malware installed itself and began to perform its actions until it saturated the RAM. I rebooted again, but ran a script that destroyed all the computer's files, antivirus and system files.
I have to stop the test in a hurry, it's a complete failure...

Final scan : PC destroyed, I can't analyze

Final opinion:

K7 is a product with some good ideas, but I have to admit that I'm very disappointed.
The last versions were very promising and I could see a nice progression. Unfortunately, this version is a fiasco.
It's sad... I really hope that Team K7 will wake up and put things right, because right now, I'd not recommanded it.

I'm a bit surprised, but the results are what they are. At least it provides good web protection. Thanks for the test. (y)

But it seems most of the tested AVs do well with web protection, at least 9 out of 10, if not 10 out of 10. They at least seem to have that down, maybe in tandem with the browsers used and its default web protection?

Wow, very disappointing results here!
Did not expect that at all!
No idea whether tweaking K7 to max protection settings would be a game changer in terms of protection, however it is something regular user wouldn't do anyway, and it indeed gives some FP (like intercepting game trainers when they access the game process in memory, BB ignoring whitelisting).
Seems it's the best to not run any unknown file outside containment (regardless of the AV used), not sure if a BAT would be flagged malicious widely and in time by VirusTotal, compared to an executable. Scripts clearly aren't.

Thank you very much for the retest, highly appreciated @Shadowra :)

Result is predictable.

Scripts clearly aren't.
No anitivirus are robustly effective against malicious scripts unless they block scripts by default. Furthermore, all antivirus have poor protections against exploits. In fact, many security software that claim they provide "anti-exploit protection" do not. What they are actually doing is providing post-exploit protections; the security software does not detect or block the exploit itself, but instead after the exploit they are blocking command lines or other blocks based upon file reputation. That is not anti-exploit.

All AV work until they don't. And they very often don't. As has been shown here on this forum many times it is trivial for pentesters to come up with ways to bypass them all.

Too many people focus on the security software. What's worse, they want default allow. All those people are set for failure at the moment of truth.
