This was tested by @cruelsister in December of last year. As of yet, there's been no significant improvements. Hopefully one day it will be a good option, as it has one of the former developers of WiseVector working on, but for now it's not so good.

I'm using Bitdefender Internet Security but no performance issue. ( Core i3 2nd Gen PC with 8 GB DDR3 RAM )
Well, we tested it, it does indeed slow some file operations and app launches even after some time that its photon thing kicks it. It may not be perceivable by a normal user, but for us who wanted a solution for some of our employees and offices with many different systems, it was not good. We went for Eset and Kaspersky.
although I forgot to mention Trendmicro was good in some aspects like detection and a little of performance side but eset Kaspersky solutions were better. eset made good progress without a heavy behavior blocker they are detecting as well as many heavy solutions so when you have something like eset/Kaspersky you don't go for Bitdefender. I don't know how eset with this much of light software is doing it, we prefer a little less detection over the software being slow and making something slow. (in recent months eset is not that far from even Bitdefender in real-world)
