The fix is Chrome.
I'm actually using Chrome at the moment. I haven't used it as the main browser in a while so I'm just testing for now. Some things are immediately noticeable, like Chrome opens a bit faster, it doesn't stutter to load its startpage wallpaper. Other noticeable things are Chrome uses more ram, the size of cache of Chrome is bigger (Edge compresses them more). The screen space taken by the address bar and bookmark bar is bigger on Chrome. I prefer Edge's smaller size. Smaller = More space for the loaded content on the screen.
Edge's private mode has a bug where the dark mode flag in incognito mode doesn't work 9/10 times for the last couple of months. Chrome doesn't have this bug.
When Google is the search engine, most Chromium browsers including Firefox, show images like a famous person's name, movie poster, etc. right next to the text if available when you are typing in the address bar. On Edge as one would expect, this only works for Bing but not when Google is the search engine.
I like Edge's download popup. Right from the popup I can delete downloaded files. It's useful when I download something for installing and want to remove it after installing.
On Android, Chrome is faster, uses less resources. Also, my phone supports 120hz only on Chrome among browsers. So scrolling is smoother on the eyes.
So, both have things to like and dislike.

Just to add one more thing. Both teams took different technical route while trying to reduce memory usage. Team Edge favoured the usage of Windows segment heap memory improvements to manage memory more efficiently (2020) but Team Chrome did not took this specific route as it negative impacts on CPU performance in Chrome (They tested it in v85). (Pls correct me if I am wrong)

Also, Chrome still doesn't have the option to ask before closing multiple tabs. It is so infuriating that they still haven't added this option. And Edge on Windows still has the best battery life out of all browsers.

Edit: made it more clear
Edit2: added more info

Yeah, you are correct and I even discussed it in this thread back then. It's good that you shared it again because I'm sure many users are not aware of it.
But I always wondered how much is the actual increase in overall CPU usage that made the Chrome team not adopt this method? Because as you can say from your experience as well as benchmarks available on many sites and YouTube, Edge still provides the best battery life on Windows. So, if the CPU usage was big enough, battery life would've been affected too but we don't see that. Besides, on Edge, the sleeping tabs feature can save further memory (even CPU) than it already does by default.

Ow yeah, this is very annoying. Almost all major browsers have this at this point except Chrome. Similar to Edge's feedback option, today I sent this feedback to Chrome. I'm sure I'm not the first one to ask them for this feature so I'm not sure when Chrome will have it.
This feature alone is making me think I should stop my Chrome experiment. A couple times every month I click the close button by mistake.

In one of the articles I found, it was said to be about 10% to 13%.

Same here 🤣. It certainly makes choosing Chrome very hard.

So, 10-13% reduced CPU performance in benchmarks. But during benchmarks the browser is under a lot of pressure unlike typical usage. 5 years have also passed since then, so the difference now is probably less than that.
Also, as I said, Edge's sleeping tabs feature should also reduce CPU usage especially when set to a lower value like 30 seconds. So considering everything, Edge has the upper hand IMO.

If Google can do this, why can't MS?

I was playing today with Winaero Tweaker settings and in its Microsoft Edge section it can disable a lot of annoyances and bloat if you like to try:

Updated yet again, I do wonder what joy of joys MS has managed to sneak into an update to 'improve users experience', so I do have a quick look but recently there have not been any significant changes that would 'annoy' me - It is a pity Edge cannot be uninstalled, or at least permanently without it reappearing on some updates, so I update it as required & even use it from time to time, usually if I need to check web mail, which isn't often :)

Edge has many pros like echosystem integration, wealth of features, resources-friendly, and crispy interface; just needs to fix some glitches and make settings panel more simple and clear.

It seems this can happen when it is updated by the scheduled task and Edge is opened soon after the process has finished.
I don't think it's related to update task because if I open Edge update page right now it will show this exact bug. Edge update task runs on a fixed cadence; it doesn't run continuously 24/7.

Mine looked like this even though it was already up to date  Fixed after restarting the browser.
I only saw this text once and that was 4 days ago. Now mine just shows that continuously rotating circle thingy. And restart does not fix that for me.

I'm not having that issue too, maybe it is a DNS problem.
I don't think it's a DNS issue cause update itself is working but the UI is not updated until I reload the page.

I was referring to my exact issue since I ran Edge 5-6 minutes after I turned on my PC. At log on an Edge update task is run for all users.

BTW, right now I'm facing your bug too. So, it's surely not DNS related. Anyway, thankfully it's not a very serious bug.
