What is this new folder "EdgeCore" now found in the install location, it's almost identical to the actual Edge files, and after removing/deleting this "EdgeCore" folder, everything still works as always, so what the purpose of it? All it does it seems is to bloat the install size.

Hello With the last Canary version (or the one before), this directory appeared in AppData\Local\MicrosoftIt is duplicated with AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge..

Edge Canary installs itself in 2 places

EdgeCore is maybe used by new Webview2.
Microsoft wrote many times that they want build Windows as modular system so that would make sense for me.

Found out today that all my favorites/ bookmarks are gone ... maybe i start from scratch

resetting settings for fixing syncing problems does not work either

Backups are important. No second browser then needed which also increase maintenance beside other things.

A unused backup browser with outdated data don't help anyway.
Using online sync with offline backup is best option.

I agree with you. It's the easiest way to back things up. I usually do this about twice a week. Sync the second browser with the main one and vice versa.

Microsoft has released the latest Microsoft Edge Stable Channel (version 91.0.864.48), which incorporates the latest Security Updates of the Chromium project. This update contains CVE-2021-30551 which has been reported by the Chromium team as having an exploit in the wild. For more information, see the Security Update Guide.

Edge is now up to date with Chromium Version 91.0.4472.101.
