Cloudfare DNS may have been causing irregular page loads, so I changed to Adguard DNS, reinstalled AVG and things seem OK. I may have jumped the gun and should have tried more troubleshooting earlier.

Are you using Adguard DNS now instead of NextDNS?

Yes, I just switched. NextDNS isn't as smooth as Adguard is for me.

NextDNS adblocking, etc. is nice if it works for you. I just don't need it.

No reason in particular except maybe boredom or I was anticipating updating Windows --> 20H2, which didn't come till much later.
I still like BD. Nice, simple and automatic. AVG's very similar in that default settings are good too, but with options to tweak a bit if you like. AVG IS is also cheaper than BD IS.

Going to the dark side is always fun I won a year of Avast Premium once, an interesting experiment. I'm still dabbling a little here and there with Comodo from time to time
