I was even upset, but it seems that the alternative they offer is not much worse. However, the zero configuration for dns0 was still the most reliable in terms of security.
DNS4EU is not far behind in terms of blocking threats. Public DNS malware filters to be tested in 2025
One thing I do like is that they also block ads if you want, in addition to the malware/phishing blocking.

Do you know of anyone who has compared the ad blocking between it, AdGuard DNS default public servers, and Control D DNS free?
I am not aware of any concrete tests for ad blocking like the threat one I shared. But I am willing to bet Control D will block more because they use a lot more sources, including AdGuard as one of their ad blocking sources.
Thank you for sharing that @KnownStormChaser. I wish that AdGuard DNS would have been included in that malicious / phishing website blocking test.

I'm still around. Just focusing on school work and life outside of development.
Osprey is in an incredibly stable state, so no drastically new updates are needed. Just minor fixes every now and then.

Two remarks regarding AlphaMountain AI
1. IMO child xxx abuse should be in the sexual content category (in stead of Untrusted)
2. For the remaining categories, this would be more appropriate (when reading their API info, you could add at least 4 categories: 27, 63, 70 and 72).
I tested it and works great (all except one of the 20 URL's I used for testing were blocked by AlphaMountain AI), no FP's until now (when only using Alpha AI).
P.S. I removed the drug/illegal substances category, because the website where I order herbs was also blocked (unless you know a way to get high on funegreek or turmeric, please PM me
}, I used the report button to have Alpha Mountain have a look at it. For fun I searched for Dutch "coffeeshops" and "smart shops" and 2 of them (randomly clicked 5) passed unnoticed, so I doubt whether the 15 category is effective).

On precision sec (your other preferred partner), it is very hard to trigger a block from them. Are you sure you test ALL the result categories?
In your code you are ONLY testing on result "malicious"
Which is mentioned in precision sec API ducumentation
But in their info I can also find other result categories (also note that this category does not start with a Capital letter)

The check_url API returns either Malicious or No result, so this doesn't apply. I'll remove the AlphaMountain drugs & illegal substances category in the future.@Foulest
