RE: biozfear's main laptop configuration

Seems its like Vipre is having problem when using in performance, hopefully on that case you found a setup that will be your long term protection.

Good to see that you're back to good ol' Comodo Internet Security.

No money to spend as CIS is totally free. You can set to proactive configuration mode for a maximum protection as possible.

i spent enough on some apps already and to be honest comodo hips and firewall are by far the most secured ive used. sure the av might not be top notch but still, as long as i know what im doing, ill be fine. plus im using xubuntu for surfing and downloading and stuff while win7 is for gaming, thats why i got a gaming laptop.

in case i need to fix some friends pc, got the tools to do the job.

ok as suggested on another post, trying out KAV + Comodo Firewall (while with Defense + disabled).

test run with 30 days trial.

BufferZone should be a good sandbox application. Languy99 did a review about it. Any special reason why d+ is disabled?

languy99 videos has bufferzone review? better check it out.

D+ was suppose to be enabled but i forgot to re-enable when removed KAV (did a system image right before installing KAV and with D+ disabled)

its now enabled.

I forgot that you had KAV, sorry. Only one hips enabled is recommended.

KAV has been removed. CIS is on Host now, while testing Panda cloud in WMWARE.

ps: starting to like Panda for my second config.

Panda should be a good Cloud AV and also very light on the system.

So far it is ok, but I need to further do some testing before finally testing on the host of the secondary config (usability and live test run with the user of the config using it for daily tasks). One thing I like is the URL Filter.

the url filter is something you can have in either case, as I do.

RE: biozfear's main laptop configuration (updated 13/11/11)

Updated config:
-Removed:
*Internet Download Manager due to conflict with Defense + for some odd reason;
*Panda Cloud AV free (from VMWARE since testing was complete).

-Added:
*Orbit Downloader;
*Panda URL filter (added via Panda Toolbar and then removing Panda Toolbar);
*NIS 2012 on VMWARE for testing purposes only.

Also updated the utilities I have installed.

RE: biozfear's main laptop config (updated 17/11/11)

I have now updated the Config following some suggestions:

Removed:
*Acronis True Image Home 2012 (following Maximus suggestion to replace by one of the Freeware (Paragon or Macrium));
*WOT;
*Autoruns;
*Sysinternals Suite 2011.09.20;
*NIS 2012 from VMWARE since testing was complete and Secondary config has been updated;
*Dell Datasafe and other Dell bundled software (following Maximus suggestion).

Added:
*Advanced System Care 5 Free;
*Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011 Free (to test between Macrium);
*Macrium Reflect Free (to test between Paragon);
*Simple Adblock for IE9.

Added in Toolbox:
*Advanced System Care 5 Free;
*Sysinternals Suite 2011.11.10.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

You can also try Easeus Todo Backup. It has more features then both Macrium and Paragon.

Could I ask how is Easeus Todo Backup in terms of usability compared to Paragon and Macrium, since you have used them before?
