That's true! It's complete, light, has very good signatures, both malware files/urls and one of the better phishing protection there is. And if something goes wrong there is still the SONAR protection or in horrible cases, Norton Power Eraser. It's also my favorite one after trying so much AV's. Great choice!

Are there any essential settings I need to change in Norton? The only thing I've changed is 'Boot-Time Protection' to Normal, the default is off.

you can set sonar to agressive , that is what I changed also maybe @frogboy can enlighten us? he is our norton conneseur from down under he is been using Norton for years!

Do you really need crypto prevent installed considering the tools you have installed already?

Unless you are actively looking for infections, chances of getting crypto prevent to shine are minimal.

@Inkurax It doesn't run in real-time just changes settings and policies in Windows meaning there would be no slowdown and just extra protection, impossible to slow me down.

Has Symantec optimized their security product? I tried it years ago and it slowed me so much i was forced to uninstall (and it didn't want to get removed, you ***** software)

For the amount of protection it provides, it's pretty light. As Vatos said, it used to be a MAJOR resource hog, hence why I never bothered with it.
