Battle Trend micro or Mcafee ?

Trend Micro or Mcafee
The funny thing about Trend Micro download notifications is, if you turn off antivirus, it still appears and claims that malware (known and detected) is safe.

It’s all these little details…

Also, years ago (when I first used Trend and before I report as it plucked my eyes out), for malware it would first claim that the download is safe and then, it would display the message that malware was removed.

In some ways, I prefer the well-populated UI McAfee was using before the minimalist refresh. One effect of the ultrasimple UI, though, has been making me mind the security software I have installed even less. ;)

Besides the respectable grade of protection, my confidence in their development pipeline and vision for a better product also inspires me to keep it around.

Yep, I had tried it, but it didn't list Essential like McAfee did on their website, I just saw a key for AntiVirus 2024 (I just need a single key for 1 year on this notebook) and was concerned about that.
I bought a 3 year license from a high rated seller on eBay. The license key is for the Indian region but it worked just fine after I switched my account to the Indian region. Then I bought another license and used this link to extend it for another 3 years! (you must login to the McAfee site first before clicking the link so it's registered under your account) >>> McAfree Extend License

have you elaborated on TM's underdeveloped tech... (I may have missed it I was away for a few days)
Here is one post, he also had a quick video? and some samples that were modified and missed by Trend.

It wasn’t so much a refresh, it was a complete rewrite. So McAfee is working on bringing features that existed before, but at the same time they are busy with developing and updating engines.

It’s all about the engines. You can’t say that the product is bad, but it’s just not Norton and McAfee level.

Just a follow-up. So I tried McAfee and was discouraged with getting Total Protection in my not understanding how it works with the subscription, features, and number of devices. Norton was a no go, so I ended up in going to the Best Buy website and they had Antivirus for $15. for 1 device. I have an account with them and have used them before, so I didn't want to enter my information into a new site, different site. Then from the app, I set up my online account.

I read a couple of reviews on Best Buy and found out when activating it to not to give McAfee my personal and CC information (I think @TuxTalk had mentioned that for his link) but to tick "continue without protection" option which is for for the renewal information , and I finally got what I wanted in the 1st place, their AV. Oh, happy day :)

So this is installed on my main daily use notebook, and I'll continue to run my F-Secure subscription out on the other devices. This UI loads consistently quick, in about 2-3 seconds once the UI pops up. Scan went good, PC seems very responsive, no slow downs, low RAM and processes used, browser extension installs went good, and as I mentioned before, even the Brave search results get rated (icons). And something else I though of, McAfee doesn't use a root certificate for the browser, so the webpages load quickly.

It's 12:10 AM, and time for bed. Cheers everyone :)

BTW Just a not I remember a member having issues installing the McAfee WebAdvisor, after reinstalling Firefox a few days ago I had issues getting the Web Advisor extension to install, regardless of whether you use it later in Private mode or not it wont install in Private mode, switching Private off enabled the extension to install OK & Then use FF as you wish - Maybe useless information :unsure:

I have managed to get several to install without giving any payments out also.

Thanks, as on this clean Windows reset laptop, I haven't installed FF yet and the WebAdvisor extension, so I appreciate the heads up :)

I think it was a good deal. I like it for my part. It's imperceptible on the computer. It doesn't slow anything down. I use it with great satisfaction. I'm not interested in the VPN part.

It worked for me just fine on Edge; currently I have no security extensions as they slow browsing down to some extent, and even if I visit a malicious site, I do not download anything from or enter data in.
Just uBOL and DR.
It is not about Edge or Chromium based browsers. The extension has issues in Firefox.
