Is there enough interest or users running Trend Micro that it could have it's own thread/category in the Security Apps sub forum, or isn't there enough room or interest to rearrange that space and add it in?
McAfee is not an overkill, it is very much trimmed to the needed core modules.McAfee... What's not to like?
You say "It's overkill" I say "Its efficient, cheap, even comes with a No-Limit VPN" You say "My surfing habits are safe" I say "We live in an insane world, where the weirdest ##### can happen".....
Summary... Is McAfee really overkill?
Can I stop you with a BB-Gun? Yea, if I shoot you in the eye.
But with a Bazooka, it's over, no matter what.
I will use it until the US GOV Releases the hostage known as Kaspersky.... Shoot I might even skip Kaspersky and keep McAfeeMcAfee is not an overkill, it is very much trimmed to the needed core modules.
It's not the protection in my case I'm so much talking about, but all the add ons (LiveSafe privacy etc features when you scroll down the My Protection box) That's why I said if I were to buy McAfee, I would just get the essential version, for the core protection itself. I'm usually siding towards AV Plus and Internet Security type of apps, for their more basic features. It's just a personal preference thing. CheersMcAfee... What's not to like?

Watch the video below to observe Trend Micro (fully active and functional), failing to detect DLL sideloading malware.
Cleaned by Orion Malware Cleaner heuristic system.
I had that image at first, too. Then I allowed the cookies and received the error message. This is what I get![]()
I agree with you. I don't go without my seatbelt in the car either. For me, the AV program is also the seatbelt of my PC. I value having the best possible protection, even though I believe my usage behavior poses only a very, very small risk that I'll ever need the AV program. (I hope Google Translate translates my thoughts correctly; I sometimes have my doubts about that. )I do see where @Oldie1950 is coming from, before I had PC's as many on here I used from the beginning the Spectrum you made yourself, them Atari's, first PC a 286, I have never had an infection I know about, however, in over 50 years of driving I've not had an air-bag deploy or needed seatbelts (they wasn't there for some time) but I still use them - So good protection for me & doing the right thing as regards cyber safety is a really good idea, & for me its really a bit of fun & the less an AV or any system bothers me the the happier I am. (or slows down a PC or internet speed I've waited decades to get the better!)
? I see TM detection rate 99.5% AVC July-Aug 2025 (it did have a high number of false+ in that test) although that has not been my experience with TM.TM is my first paid antivirus back in the 2007 and i really enjoyed it . .. With the detection rates it has nowadays i really am not in the mood to install it back .
and here it is just blank space. (I probably have "overkill" securityWhich video? I don't see a video, just an error message.
