You don't owe me or anyone else any sort of explanation, nor are you obligated in any way to implement any suggestions. If you do, great. If not, oh well.

That being said, I think I found a concerning bug. If I enter "Security & Privacy extras", enabled advanced, and then enable all eight settings cosmetic filtering ceasing to open at all. I'm not presented with any UI for it. Now, it could be because I'm about twenty different kinds of dumb, but I can't see why this is the case. Are the dialogs it uses considered spam or pings. Everything, from a UI perspective, drastically slows down when all those are enabled. Can anyone else confirm?

That is interesting point you are raising. The protections rely heavily on Chrome mechanisms. I am using Brave on Linux, but you could have a point that browsers adding extra functionality might change something in the way things are handled. Because most is handled asynchroneously (asynchrone is one way, sending messages to each other which might result in race conditions one arriving earlier than the other, synchrone is when we would talk on the phone to each other biderectional, at the same time). Would be interesting to know whether people using Edge and Chrome or Edge and Brave have noticed differences.


The 6 common applied protections have a very very low breakage risk. The two bottom ones of Security and Privacy (the 4h row) are applied on a specific set of domains (the top 20 most visited adult websites), so although they have a low breakage risk, they can hardly cause problems (because they are limited to specific domains).

I just noticed an odd problem between Gmail and uBlock-Stripped. When I checked my mail on Gmail, all that I got was marked read, as it should be. All were not important, so I deleted all e-mails. I checked my spam folder as I always do and then returned to the inbox. And then all the e-mails I had read and deleted were back, and they were all marked as unread?

No matter how often I deleted them, they kept coming back. Only when I deactivated uBlock-stripped for a while could I permanently mark them read and permanently delete them? Until today I never had that happen with uBlock-Stripped. (I have version 8.6.0.)

Ok will explain it better. I worked on 8.6.1 yesterday evening will upload it at lunch time in NL to CWS.

I found a little bug in Cosmetic element picker activation and am removing the keep opened for browser compatibility reasons (internal message handling have minot differences between Chromium based brosers) in the hope Vivaldi works better with (I don't have it installed, so can't test it).

Also I will add a new protection for worry free. This new setting will be disabled by default (disable download from domains not on the TLD whitelist). I will also disable the related disable the block 3P-scripts and frames from domains not in TLD-whitelist by default.

The reason for doing so is that by offering Worry-free as a permanent option I only enable the safe options (extra filters and extra Security & Privacy protections) and disable block 3P-scripts/frames and downloads from domains not on TLD-whitelist.

When I can inform users with a one-time update info I will disable the TLD-whitelist related settings otherwise I will only disable them when the user has disable "launch worry-free at browser start" (assuming that only power users would enable this feature).

The new related TLD-whitelist setting is based on enabling the sandbox feature of Content Securiy Policy and omitting download. By using append, this does not interfere with existing SCP settings of a website, only adds a download limitation. This helps protect against (scriptles) drive by downloads. Downloads from familiar TLD's are allowed, it is just an enforcement of easy medium mode.

Checked on MS Edge. No problems. You did use Vivaldi?

Because at least one other browser (in my case Edge) doesn't show the problem. BTW, usually I access gmail in the Outlook app (laptop and phones). The few times I do it in a browser, then in a separated profile with default settings and without extensions. Also for banking and shopping.

I’m using Chrome version 152. When I delete emails in Gmail, they come back. I thought the issue was caused by Ublock Stripped, so I disabled it, but the problem persists. When I delete emails in Gmail on iOS, the deletion syncs correctly and the emails disappear from my PC. This must be a bug in Chrome 152 on PC.

I am also having no issues on Brave

But let's compare browser versions: Brave is based on Chromium version 151.0.7922.173

When @Jan Willy could check what version Edge uses and @Morro for Vivaldi. Back mentioned Chrome 152 so I am behind on Brave (on Linux) and therefor could not (yet) run into that problem.
