Important, yes. More than an AV? I doubt it. But, I am certain some users do well with a content blocker and web filtering extension and no AV. Like @Umbra's Total Security

This is because during beta testing Umbra's became "self aware" - devoured the entire operating system - and was trying to go after the local power grid....apparently the AI was set too aggressive.

Were you using Free or Pro? Pro lets you add apps to the protected list but I'm not sure of Free because it's been so long ago that I used it.

free, on premium you can manually add them i suppose

Yes. Beware if you use the latest Beta, users are reporting issues.
