Since the UI is made from CSS then technically the performance must go to the optimization of engine.

One of my comparison found out that Opera and Chrome have fine tune in functionality compare to Vivaldi but I may be wrong since its a continuous development.

Today’s snapshot is a big one with almost 70 fixes and improvements, including a new privacy option for WebRTC, tab hibernation for Linux and more mouse gesture possibilities.

WebRTC and privacy

WebRTC allows for easier implementation of voice, video chat and file sharing applications in the web browser, using HTML technologies (no plugins). While this is great, it can also be abused by websites to track you more easily. If you would like to leave less fingerprints when browsing the web, go to the Privacy section of settings and see the new WebRTC section.

Extra mouse gestures

We’ve added more mouse gestures, included the ability to jump to the top of a page. To use the new gestures you need to activate them through the Mouse menu in Vivaldi Settings. Find a gestures that works for you and map them to: Scroll Top, Scroll Bottom, Scroll Page Up and Scroll Page Down.

In Today's snapshot we address some of the problems you raised in the last snapshot, including fixing the private window crash on Mac, selection of the custom background image and the broken proprietary media on Linux. We also made the Linux proprietary media system more robust on Ubuntu and added additional support for OpenSUSE and Slackware users.

Improved support for HTML5 proprietary media on Linux
We have supported proprietary media (MP4 [H.264/MPEG-4AVC & AAC] Video and MP3 Audio) since our October snapshots from last year. On Ubuntu Linux, you simply needed to install the chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra package (which provides a suitable library) and restart Vivaldi. However, we would only accept certain (very recent) versions of this package, meaning that occasionally (in snapshots) proprietary media would stop working.

With today's snapshot we have made the system more flexible on Ubuntu by allowing the version of chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra package to vary a little more than before. In addition, we now look for suitable libraries in the chromium-ffmpeg package on OpenSUSE (from the Packman repository) and AlienBob's Chromium package on Slackware. It is also worth reminding people that on Arch Linux, the vivaldi-snapshot-ffmpeg-codecs(found on the AUR and maintained by one of our Sopranos, Ike Devolder) provides support for these codecs.

In summary, proprietary media works more reliably for even more Linux users!

Thanks for the update @frogboy. It's one of the few bugfix snapshots before 1.3 stable will come out.
I saw a list of things that are expected for for 1.4 and later:

• mail
• sync
• dockable developer tools
• reader mode
• drag en drop tabs out of the window to a new one
• history panel
• more mouse gestures
• And other still unannouced things and fixes too
