New Update W10Privacy

W10Privacy 6.0.0.0
6.0.0.0 (August 13, 2026)

Hello everyone! 👋🏻 W10Privacy has now been available for 11 years! To implement many of the requested enhancements over the years, the program has been completely rebuilt. New features from version 6 onwards include:

- Comprehensive search for terms within the settings or tooltips

- The ability to select and deselect desired settings in bulk is available per tab (please use with caution!).

- More informative messages about the status of certain program states

- The background colors can be selected from a color palette.

- Of course, several other useful configurable options have been added.

- Settings that can no longer be reliably deactivated (such as Defender) have been removed from the program.

- Uniform internal naming of settings (IDs) – previously these were sometimes named in English or German.

- Using the additional parameters "notasks" and "notelemetry", it is possible in CLI mode to exclude the processing of further areas.

- Updating and revising the DNS names underlying host and IP blocking

- Re-evaluation of the IP addresses used for IP blocking – this process will be repeated several times in the coming period and the addresses will be updated accordingly.

- Significant improvement in the (previously partly language-dependent) recognition of various settings (e.g. in the area of "tasks")

- Clearer display of settings per tab: These are displayed according to recommendation level, the need for administrative permissions, and finally alphabetically.

- Languages: The texts from the previous program version were largely retained. All missing texts for the various languages were translated fully automatically to ensure a consistent appearance.

- Overall much more user-friendly, e.g., you can switch between tabs using the mouse wheel.

- An important note regarding the settings of the "Telemetry" and "Firewall" tabs : These differ fundamentally between program versions 5 and 6 (different number of IP addresses, sometimes different names for the firewall rules, etc.). Therefore, if these settings are configured at all, it makes sense to first disable all settings in the "Telemetry" and "Firewall" tabs using program version 5 and then, if necessary, reconfigure the desired settings using program version 6. Removing the old entries is also possible directly in the Windows Firewall – simply remove all firewall rules labeled "W10Privacy" under "Advanced settings" in the "Outbound rules" section.

- I will translate the English instructions on the website in the coming days – it's not possible to implement everything simultaneously due to time constraints.

Basically, with the new program version, "no stone was left unturned." Therefore, previously generated configuration files are not compatible with the new version. However, settings stored in an old configuration file can be transferred. Details can be found in the instructions on the website – just a brief note: W10Privacy allows you to create a template file using " /template, " and the previously set settings from an existing configuration file can be transferred to this template using " /migrateconfig ." This only affects the settings of the various tabs and not the program settings themselves, such as font size.

The program has been intensively revised and tested over the past few weeks. At a certain point, however, I have to say that it's "enough for now." No matter how much you integrate, optimize, and test, it will never be possible to reproduce all potential use cases and problems. Therefore, please use this first version of W10Privacy version 6 with some caution. There might still be a few glitches here and there – so please let me know if that's the case. There's only one exception: virus detections "still don't interest me" 😁 – unfortunately, it's inevitable that Defender or other security solutions will flag the program and mistakenly identify it as a threat or malware. As already explained in detail in the "Virus?" section, this situation is beyond my control, and I don't plan to address it in the near future.

We're now entering the 12th year of W10Privacy's availability, and still no one has been able to prove that it contains a virus or anything else harmful – and that will remain 100% the case: The program's purpose is to set predefined preferences and nothing more!

For the time being, both program versions (versions 5 and 6) will be available for download in the download section.

W10Privacy 6.1.0.0
6.1.0.0 (14.08.2026)

- Added more services that most users could safely disable.
- Standardized service descriptions and expanded information on the consequences of disabling them.
- Some settings only take full effect after a restart or re-login. These are now marked with a separate icon and a corresponding note is added to the tooltip.
- Added more DNS names for blocking via hosts – these became known as a result of the disclosure of the Global Device Identifier (GDID) in Windows.
- Updated the list of IP addresses associated with Microsoft that can be blocked via the "Block IP Addresses" settings.

W10Privacy 6.2.0.0
6.2.0.0 (17.08.2026)

- Adding various settings: In some cases, multiple "switches" exist for the same setting within Windows. Therefore, settings have been expanded in some places to include these additional parameters.
- Adding further useful settings to the various tabs.
- Due to the increasing number of settings related to "Copilot & AI," a new "Copilot and AI" tab has been created. Some settings from the "Privacy" section have been moved there, as well as new settings that were identified and reported in the meantime.
- In W10Privacy version 5, an option to remove OneDrive was already available. This feature was previously missing in version 6, but it has now been added. Removal can be performed in both the user and system contexts.
- In Windows 11, tooltips were previously displayed as long as the mouse hovered over the setting. Windows 10 has a different default behavior here; the tooltips were hidden after approximately 5 seconds. This has now been standardized so that tooltips generally remain active for a maximum of 32 seconds.
- Disabling the "CDPSvc" and "CDPUserSvc" services causes "Night Mode" to stop working. This has been added to the tooltip, and the reset value has been changed to "Automatic."
- The "Disable AutoLogger" setting was partially reverting itself. This issue should now be resolved by taking additional registry values into account.
- The "Uninstall Microsoft Edge" setting previously relied on the existence of an uninstall registry value. However, such a key does not exist on some systems. Therefore, the setting now also considers the existence of the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge." Consequently, "Microsoft Edge" is recognized as installed, and the uninstallation option is now available.
- Updated the list of IP addresses associated with Microsoft that can be blocked via the "IP Address Blocking" settings.

W10Privacy 6.2.0.2
  • The solution to the path redirection problem addressed in the previous version was unfortunately not yet completely resolved; some redirections were still occurring in the firewall rules. This resulted in incorrect paths being used. I have now corrected this, hopefully for good! Please note: If any settings were configured in the "Firewall" tab, these should be reset. They can be deactivated and reactivated via the current program version (alternatively, the "Application" firewall rules can of course also be manually removed from the "Outgoing Rules" section). (and then reset via the program). In this way, any faulty rules are removed and cleanly reset.
  • Addition of various previously rather spartan tooltips.
  • Addition of the two languages "Simplified Chinese" and "Traditional Chinese" – both completely machine-translated. Post-editing of the texts is done by authors. probably in the coming weeks.

W10Privacy 6.2.0.3
6.2.0.3 (20.08.2026)
  • Integration of the Vietnamese language by Vũ Anh Vũ.
  • Updating of the Polish texts by a native speaker translator.
  • Updating of the Simplified Chinese texts by Dayanzai~Xu.

W10Privacy 6.3.0.0
6.3.0.0 (23.08.2026)
  • Optimization of the program's startup processes, reducing startup time by approximately 50%. Several PowerShell calls were combined to save time on initializing the PowerShell environment. Further performance improvements are not currently planned – W10Privacy is not a program that will start in 2-3 seconds; there are simply too many settings that need to be determined during startup.
  • Adding an option to store settings information in a specific language when creating a template file via "/template". The parameter "lang" can be used for this; for example, "/lang pl" would output the template file text in Polish.
  • In the display settings, it is now possible to select the font the program should use. The program does not look equally good in every font – however, there is no focus on optimizing it in detail for every font.
  • The program can now be restarted automatically after a change in the display settings.
  • If Windows Defender is used as the security solution, it tends to reset the two settings for customizing the HOSTS file in the "Telemetry" tab if W10Privacy makes the changes. To prevent this, a folder exclusion for the path "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" is now created before the HOSTS file is modified. If all hosts-related settings are subsequently disabled, the exclusion will also be removed.
  • Minor cosmetic adjustments

W10Privacy 6.3.0.1
6.3.0.1 (02.09.2026)
  • The optimized startup processes in version 6.3 cause the program to fail to start on systems with relatively "exotic" third-party programs that hook into the text display (in this case, "MacType"). An option has now been integrated into the display settings to reactivate the previous startup mechanism (slightly slower and with visible register population).
  • Updated Italian and Polish texts – many thanks to NAMP and Stanislaw

W10Privacy 6.3.0.2
6.3.0.2 (27.09.2026)
  • Fixed a bug that could cause an exception error in CommandLine mode during OneDrive uninstallation.
