What Is It?

The 2023 anime TV show Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1:

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1 Trailer:

My New Obsession – Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End:

Frieren Changed Me For The Better.:

My Thoughts

I heard that this anime was good from a YouTuber.

I finally watched it not long ago on Netflix.

It did not disappoint, except for the last few episodes, in some ways.

This is an anime that I think that you will appreciate the older that you are.

I know that it connected with me as someone who is starting to get older.

This anime brought tears to my eyes one or more times. 🥲

It also helped to bring some peace to me with most episodes.

I would sometimes relax and smile during parts of some episodes.

This anime got me to stop and think back on positive memories of spending time with others.

It does a good job portraying various themes of aging / time, relationships, life, death, adventure, et cetera.

It somehow combines slower bits of slice of life and adventure.

With bits of emotional moments of enjoying memories from the past, et cetera.

While learning to slow down and enjoy the present, and to enjoy spending time with the people in your life.

There are life lessons to be learned from this anime.

Like the power of helping others, and how even small acts can matter.

To not take life and your time with others for granted.

Enjoy the small things in life.

I would recommend this anime to anyone.

The pacing was pretty good for a slower show until the last several episodes.

Which spent too much time on a certain story arc.

I would rate this anime a 4 – 5 out of 5.

Please do watch it when you get a chance.

What Is It?

The 2025 Netflix anthology TV show Love Death And Robots Season 4.

LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS VOLUME 4 | Official Trailer | Netflix:

Why LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS Season 4 FAILED:

My Thoughts

I only found out about this new season thanks to my brother GC.

I saw no advertisements or reviews for this at all, and no one talked about it.

Unfortunately, in our opinion, it is the worst season so far, a poop stain on the franchise.

Look How They Massacred My Boy:

aba.gif

I did like at least 3 of the episodes, though:

Spider Rose, The Screaming Of The Tyrannosaur, and How Zeke Got Religion.

Spider Rose is probably my favorite episode of this bad season.

I would like to give a shout-out to that episode, y'all deserved better than being in this disappointing season.

Spider Rose was a true Love Death And Robots episode, unlike some off-theme(d) trash episodes of this season.

One of the good things about anthology TV shows like this is that there is variety.

So usually each person can find at least something that they like.

It is sad to see this show go downhill this much.

This season feels more like trash compared to the first two seasons, except for a few episodes.

Some episodes had no business being in this show, and this season was too goofy.

I can only recommend watching a few of the episodes of this season.

Then you are better off watching Secret Level Season 1 instead.

If there is ever another season of Love Death And Robots, hopefully it will be better than this disappointment.

I would rate this season a 1 – 2 out of 5.

What is it?

The 1965 American drama film A Patch Of Blue that was directed by Guy Green.

A Patch of Blue (1965) Official Trailer – Sidney Poitier Movie:

A Patch of Blue (1965) Review (4#29):

Why do you like it?

One of the reasons that I like A Patch Of Blue is because I can relate to it personally.

I made a complementary post for this post called The Horror! The Horror!, which will somewhat explain why.

I think that it is a well focused film. It does a good job keeping the focus on a few characters.

I like the topics and themes that were brought up in the film.

Furthermore, I like how the music, characters, acting, situations, and everything else complemented each other.

Open HD | Patch of Blue | Warner Archive:

I recommend listening to the music soundtrack A Patch Of Blue (Original Soundtrack Recording) for this movie by Jerry Goldsmith:

A Patch Of Blue

Those elements combine to make this film a classic. People can watch it even now and still like it.

They can connect with the film all these years later.

Why would someone else like it?

If nothing else, I believe others will appreciate A Patch Of Blue. They will enjoy how the relationship between the two main characters is built.

I think they will appreciate how it brings up various issues. Hopefully, it will make them think.

They might see things from a different point of view than what they are used to.

I think that they will like the growth of some of the main characters.

Likewise, I think that A Patch Of Blue is a good film & classic that is worth watching.

I just finished watching Season 2 of Andor on Disney+ and it is perhaps the best Star Wars saga in terms of character development and depth of the story. I think Andor is a prequel to Rogue One which itself was a prequel to the original Star Wars film. (I am a fan not an expert).

What Is It?

The 2019 science fiction horror movie Vivarium.

Vivarium International Trailer #1 (2020) | Movieclips Trailers:

Vivarium (2020) DARK SURREAL HORROR MOVIE REVIEW *spoiler free | Spookyastronauts:

My Thoughts

When I saw the trailer for this movie, I knew that I wanted to watch it. The trailer was weird and different.

It looked like something that I might like. So, I planned to watch it when it came out.

I had somewhat high hopes for this movie. I was hoping not to be disappointed. Fortunately, I was not disappointed.

This movie pretty much met my expectations. It was pretty good.

It kept my attention thanks to the mystery, weirdness, and the performances.

Imogen Poots had the best performance in my opinion. She portrayed an outstanding character. Jesse Eisenberg did a pretty good job as well.

This movie is a bit psychological and combines mystery, science fiction, horror, a bit of surrealism et cetera.

They combine in a way to help you, as the audience, feel or imagine the characters’ experiences.

You might also consider what you would do in their situation.

This movie feels like being trapped in a never-ending nightmare. It’s like a quicksand-like dream. To my surprise, I never found it to be boring.

I tried to imagine what would I do if I were in that situation.

This movie showed what can happen to people and their relationships in a situation like this.

This movie gives some hints of its themes. However, it does not give all the answers.

So it leaves things open to interpretation, and there are unanswered and unasked questions that only slightly bothered me.

I was able to accept this more than I usually would. This movie does this intentionally, and it makes sense for the type of movie it is.

The name of the movie which is Vivarium was a word that I was not familiar with.

So I had to look up the definition of vivarium.

Which according to Wiktionary is:

A place artificially arranged for keeping or raising living animals.
The movie had a brave ending that most movies would not risk, and it surprised my brother GC and I.

I was impressed by this movie and what they were able to accomplish on a low-budget. It was filmed well and directed well.

The acting was good. It had an interesting concept and was unique.

It is one of the best movies that I have seen this year.

It is a shame that most people will never hear about it or watch it.

I recommend watching this movie at least once.

Hello @Jonny Quest,

My brother GC and I are the only people I know in real life to have not only seen it, but to have ever heard of it.

We watched it during the COVID-19 lockdown, which was a great time to watch a movie like this, and it impressed both of us by being good like the trailer for a low budget film.

Sadly, it seems almost no one saw it or heard of it, the downside of being released during the lockdown, I guess.

I think that they should re-release it and have it in movie theaters, and then on Netflix, et cetera.

So people can see it.

It was good to see Imogen Poots in a movie again.

I need to watch this movie again one day to see if I still like it as much as the first time.

If you do watch it eventually, feel free to share your thoughts.

Imogen Poots was recently in a series "Outer Range" (2022-24) two seasons 15 episodes. Oddly interesting. When you search for her on IMDB it finds her with her photo and movie title "Vivarium" under her pic & it gets some good Metascores. IMDB says it is on Prime. I'll check it out. thanks!

Thank you, @simmerskool, I had not heard of that TV show before, it looks like something that I might like.

I just tested what you said, you are right, I showed Vivarium next to her name when I did a search on The IMDb.

Imogen Poots was also good in another movie that only my brother GC & I saw, that I think more people should see.

Which is the dark comedy movie, The Art Of Self-Defense, I recommend that movie as well.

Feel free to share your thoughts on those movies if you watch them one day. ;)
