Film Review: ‘Cosmopolis’:
My Thoughts
Every single video review of this movie that I saw on YouTube so far was negative.
Every reviewer I saw did not like or understand this movie. Most of them felt that it was pretentious and pointless.
They thought it was slow and boring. It did not make sense to them at all.
I seem to be one of the few people who did not hate this movie.
However, I did not like the character Elise Packer (Elise Shifrin) and how that character was acted.
I seem to be one of the few people who could somewhat understand this movie.
I probably somewhat liked this movie. I thought that this movie was different / unique and philosophical. I was able to relate to it.
Furthermore, I understood the movie more than any of the critics I have seen so far.
I watched this movie a few years ago alone at night. I was in a philosophical and thinking mood.
Likewise, I was at a certain point in my life when this movie felt relevant at the time. Maybe that made a difference.
Perhaps this movie is better watched under those conditions.
I was probably able to relate to this movie more because I think a lot.
When I am alone, I sometimes think out-loud, especially at night. This is when I often do my best, deepest, and most philosophical thinking.
The flow and dialogue of this movie is somewhat like that.
This movie and its dialogue between characters are like listening to people thinking out-loud to each other.
They discuss various topics in a deeply philosophical manner. This approach is uncommon in most movies or real life.

Cosmopolis – A Protest Against the Future:
This movie will probably be harder to relate to and understand for some people. This is especially true if you do not like philosophy.
It will also be difficult for you if you do not engage in a lot of thinking. This is especially true for deeper thought on various topics.
The dialogue can get confusing, complex, and random at times. It flows like people thinking philosophical thoughts out loud.
Even I could not make much sense of some of it. That is how things are in real life with our thoughts.
Sometimes our thoughts make sense, and sometimes they do not.
They can flow randomly and fast at times, like some of the dialogue in this movie.
The main character Eric Packer (played by Robert Pattinson), who has bodyguards, is basically slowly going through the city.
He has philosophical conversations with various people. He meets them on his way to get a haircut.
Of course, there is more that happens. This will probably bore some people.
If you are in the mood for something like this, you can consider watching this movie at least once.
Here is one of the songs that was featured in this movie:
Cosmopolis (2012) – Mecca (Soundtrack OST):
I had not heard of it -- on IMDB overall it has metascore 58 but many critics are giving it 80s & even one 100 & Rotten Tomatoes 67%. It seems to be available on Starz and Prime. I'll check it out, even though no one has ever accused me thinking
