My Thoughts​


When my brother GC and I started watching this, the animation looked a bit rough.

The music seemed a bit dated, except for the ending theme. The voice of Gon just was not the same.

So we were not expecting this to have aged well, and we were not expecting to like it much.

To our surprise, the voice acting was funny and fun at times.

It made us laugh more than most show's attempts at actual comedy. This was a good thing.

We adjusted to the voices, and the animation got better. To our surprise, we liked this more than we had anticipated.

It aged better than we had expected.

The fights were better than we expected, but there were clear limitations.

They skipped more fights than the 2011 version of Hunter x Hunter. They also shortened more fights.

This one ended better than the 2011 version.

The 2011 version is still better overall. This version had funnier voice acting.

Some things were explained and done better than the 2011 version.

But, most of the animation, music, narration, and action were better in the 2011 version.

I also liked the ending credits & song better than the 2011 version:

This original 1999 version is still worth watching even if you have seen the 2011 version.

So I recommend watching this one first, then watch the 2011 version.

I’ve watched the series The Three-Body Problem and found it fascinating how it blends hard science with narrative tension. The story begins with humanity’s contact with an alien civilization living in a three-sun system, which creates a chaotic and unpredictable environment. That scientific backdrop—the impossibility of precisely calculating the orbits and, therefore, the survival of that civilization—becomes the driving force of the plot and the dilemma that connects with humanity.

The Three-Body Problem relies on physics and cosmology (the orbital problem of the three suns, the impossibility of predicting their system), while Disclosure Day seems more focused on the emotional and political narrative of a “day of revelation” on Earth. I say this based on the Disclosure Day trailer. 🌌👥🎬

P.S.: I’m also looking forward to watching Disclosure Day


EDIT: For those who haven’t seen it yet and plan to do so, a heads-up: Netflix went big with The Three-Body Problem. Visually striking and full of intriguing ideas, but the open ending makes it feel more like a prologue than a complete work. Ambitious, yes, though it comes across as unfinished. 🤷‍♂️

What Is It?​

My Thoughts​

Season 1 was a pleasant surprise.

It did suffer from Bethesda’s twist on the Fallout franchise, and from being goofier / cornier.

But it was not enough to make me not enjoy it.

There were some long time Fallout fans who hated it.

But I, as someone who completed the video games: Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4.

I actually did not hate it.

It was better than expected, and I looked forward to Season 2.

But after watching Season 2, my opinion of this show has changed.

My opinion about Season 1 remains.

But Season 2 feels / seems like Bethesda / Todd Howard.

Are intentionally destroying / tarnishing / disrespecting / et cetera Fallout: New Vegas / Obsidian.

Out of jealousy, spite, et cetera.

Since most Fallout fans seem to like Fallout: New Vegas, by Obsidian, better than the Fallout video games by Bethesda.

Perhaps some long time Fallout fans like Creetosis were correct, somewhat, about Season 1:

At this time, I still recommend Season 1, but I would not recommend Season 2.

I did like Ella Purnell as Lucy, though I liked her less this season.

Season 2 is killing this TV show, intentionally, in my opinion.

Fallout: New Vegas and this TV show itself deserved better.

Bugthesda / Bethesda / Todd Howard seem to keep killing their / other’s legacies / franchises / et cetera.

It is sad to see a company continue like this.

I would rate this season a 2 – 3 out of 5.

I do not look forward to Season 3.

This show is too goofy and dumb now.

I will watch Season 3, though.

My Thoughts​

I actually got to see Demon City back in the 1990s on the Syfy channel on their ani-Saturdays.

When they used to show one or more anime on Saturday.

I miss those days.

Thanks to that anime block, I got to see some anime that I would not have seen otherwise.

Especially the more adult and serious kind.

This movie has some style and atmosphere that stands out until this day.

We need more anime in this style.

I just finished watching the fourth and final season of 12 Monkeys 🐒, and here is my ultimate conclusion:

The series reaches its conclusion like a clock finally striking the exact hour ⏰: after so many paradoxes, journeys, and sacrifices, the fourth season becomes the final adjustment of its gears. Here, time is no longer the enemy, but the judge.

The tension unfolds with an almost operatic rhythm 🎭, where each character faces their destiny with a blend of tragedy and redemption. The complexity of time travel remains intact, and the cinematic nods —such as the homage to Thelma & Louise 🚗— remind us that this story also converses with other tales of escape and sacrifice.

Cassie and Cole embark on an unprecedented quest, traveling further back in time than ever before, in search of a legendary weapon capable of stopping the Witness once and for all. Yet they discover that true triumph demands the greatest sacrifice, leading to a profoundly personal and moving finale. They embody the eternal question: is it worth more to save the world 🌍 or to save love ❤️?

Jennifer Goines, with her eccentric humor, becomes the compass within the chaos 🌀: ironic, playful, yet always lucid. The chosen songs reinforce the narrative 🎶; each track works as an emotional underline, an echo accompanying irreversible decisions. Terry Gilliam’s movie is a classic and definitely worth watching, but the series takes that initial concept and expands it with a much richer narrative. The episodic format gives room for the characters to grow, for the time paradoxes to become even more tangled, and for the story to explore nuances that a two-hour film can only hint at. In a way, the movie is the seed and the series is the full-grown tree: same root, but with branches stretching out in surprising directions. Hopefully you’ll get the chance to watch the series soon.🌱🌳⏳

After finishing 12 Monkeys, I found myself trapped in that mix of paradoxes and emotions the series wove with surgical precision . It wasn’t just science fiction: it was a philosophical journey where every character fit together like gears in an impossible clock.⏳

And of course, one might think that after such an experience the logical step would be to look for something lighter… but no. Still under the influence of 12 Monkeys, I decided to dive into another space/time adventure, this time with a different focus but just as ambitious: 👉Dark👈, by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese.

Here there’s no “classic time machine.” Access to time travel comes through a cave and phenomena tied to the nuclear plant, closer to the mythical than the technological . What begins as the disappearance of a boy in Winden soon turns into a labyrinth of generations, paradoxes, and causalities that challenge both logic and the viewer’s patience.🌌

More than science fiction, Dark is a temporal tragedy: a mirror of how time itself can be prison, destiny, and labyrinth all at once.

So yes, I wanted something light… but I ended up choosing an existential puzzle that demands more neurons than vacations . Once I finish the first season, I’ll be back to share whether I managed to escape the cycle or got stuck in Winden with the rest.🤯

My Thoughts​

I never would have seen this movie if it were not for the fact that Carla Juri was in it.

After seeing / hearing her in the movie Blade Runner 2049, and being impressed by her voice / accent and presence:

Her voice / accent and screen presence are calming / relaxing / kind / unique.

I wanted to see if she had been in any other movies or TV shows.

This was a movie that she was in that I watched a trailer for on YouTube.

So I made a mental note to watch this one day.

A few years later, I have finally watched it.

It is a slow burn style movie, but done in a good way in my opinion.

This movie kept my attention with its better than expected cinematography, music, and atmosphere.

It is basically a better alternative to the movie Men, in my opinion.

This movie is older than Men, so I wonder if Men was partly inspired by this movie?

It was good to finally see / hear Carla Juri in a movie again, for the second time ever.

She needs to be in more movies and TV shows.

Her voice and calm, collected, kind, et cetera presence shined again in yet another role.

This movie’s mystery and atmosphere keeps you trying to figure out what is going on.

There is a twist with a surprising off the rails moment that leaves you with more questions.

And a what did I just watch moment.

In a somewhat good way, but I still wish we had more answers.

After the movie ended, I immediately went looking for some explained videos about this movie afterward.

So it definitely gives you something to think about, talk about, et cetera.

I do think that Imelda Staunton should have had more scenes.

And Alec Secareanu was too stoic / did not talk or react enough at times, in my opinion.

Those are a few of my complaints about this movie.

It is a shame that this movie, like Saint Maud, both went under the radar.

Especially since they were released in 2020 at a terrible time.

Both movies should be released, in my opinion, so that more people can learn about them.

Now that I think about it, Saint Maud is perhaps in the same genre as this movie.

Except from a point-of-view that is more familiar to me.

I probably liked Saint Maud better and / or it had more of an impact on me.

And Morfydd Clark’s performance stood out more to me.

Both movies deserve to be seen by more people.

I would rate this movie a 4 out of 5.
