In this version of CCleaner, we’ve made small but meaningful improvements to stability and multilingual usability—plus resolved a crash affecting Custom Clean.

Taking the hassle out of PC maintenance

This update focuses on making CCleaner more stable and easier to use, especially for our global community:
  • Improved multilingual UI
Fixed layout and overlapping text issues in right-to-left languages like Arabic and Hebrew.
  • Resolved Custom Clean crash
Fixed an issue where cleaning Amazon Music could cause CCleaner to close unexpectedly.
  • Minor UI improvements
Tooltip icons now display correctly when using right-to-left language settings.
  • Better experience in minimized view
Resolved layout issues when the CCleaner window is minimized and resized.

First I only keep CCleaner64.exe and uninst.exe :

I tried this, but the removed components will be added again with every update, so I disabled every checkbox in: "Smart Cleaning, Updates, Privacy" which disabled all background services.

Now remain the "CCleanerCrashReporting" which will run every 24 hours and take a screenshot of your desktop and send it to Gen Digital, even if disabled it will re-enable itself every time you open CCleaner, so I changed its scheduled task property to "At system startup", so it can take a screenshot to my empty desktop not my personal stuff in random times, and it didn't change or reset even after update.

CCleanerCrashReporting" which will run every 24 hours and take a screenshot of your desktop and send it to Gen Digital,
Hello,
where did you get that info ? Also, are you referring to CCleanerBugReport.exe or CCleanerCrashDump.exe ? I checked my firewall and CCleanerCrashDump.exe never connected to Internet. About CCleanerBugReport.exe I set the firewall to block its outbound connection when it tried to connect for the first time. After that I set the firewall to disable all its connections, both outbound and also inbound, if there were any.
(Edited) I see that you refer to CCleanerBugReport.exe as it's listed in startup scheduled tasks and, as you wrote, even if it is disabled it will re-enable itself every time CCleaner is opened. Anyway how do you know that it takes a screenshot of the current desktop and send it to Gen Digital ? What would be the purpose of this weird behavior ?

I noticed that my screen was flickering every night at 8:40 PM, and when I searched I found that it was the time of "CCleanerCrashReporting" scheduled task to run, then I searched on the internet why CCleaner acts like this and found answers that it have a spyware for Avast/Gen Digital.

I don't have a clear evidence, but the flickering was exactly like what happen when a screenshot app run.

I've just found this on Community CCleaner website Why does CCleaner seem to take a screenshot every time I use it now?
The linked thread is here Screen flashes
Well, at least now I understand on what depends those screen flashes I notice just after Windows 11 start ;)
However CCleanerBugReport.exe isn't flagged as malware neither by Microsoft Defender, Malwarebytes Premium and VirusTotal VirusTotal
Thank you for the link, this is the first time I read this, but as I noticed it talks about screen flashes that happened when using CCleaner and I don't mind this, what I'm talking about is screen flash when it is closed, exactly in time "CCleanerBugReport.exe" scheduled to run, I tried to delete the task, but it will be recreated again when opening CCleaner, I tried to disable it, and it will be re-enabled again, the only workaround I found as I mentioned earlier is to change its property value.

I know it is clean from malware, but the past of Avast with stealing users data make me have doubts about what it does behind the scene, here is what is written on CCleaner on AlternativeTo:

Yep, I can confirm that the screen flickering occurs when CCleanerCrashReporting task is run. On my system currently the task is set to run at 00:25 everyday but since at that time my PC is often OFF, the task automatically run at Windows start. I checked now theTask Scheduler and the last run was this morning at 8:24 when I logged to Windows 11. I must say the screen flickering is rather annoying, I wonder if there is a way to block the execution of CCleanerBugReport.exe or maybe renaming the executable's extension for example to CCleanerBugReport.bak could work, i'm going to do it now so tomorrow when I will log to Windows I hope the screen flickering will be gone.
(Edited) After renaming CCleanerBugReport.exe to CCleanerBugReport.bak the CCleanerCrashReporting task was automatically deleted. After that I opened CCleaner and the task was not re-created so I hope the issue is solved. Almost certainly subsequent CCleaner updates will restore CCleanerBugReport.exe and it will need to rename the file extension again.
CCleanerBugReport.exe bug has been known for a long time, I just found this Prompt that opens and closes instantly
Probably deleting CCleanerBugReport.exe after doing a backup of it would accomplish the same task but I think that simply renaming its extension is a better choice.

I haven't paid attention to the screen flickering yet, but the task on my system is also scheduled to run at night, when my computer would invariably be sleeping. The last run time, however, is 1991-11-30..., and the last run result says it has never been run.

Hello,
probably on your system the CCleaner main program wasn't able to set a correct task for CCleanerCrashReporting and it generates a error, likely it's explained here Fix error 0x41303 in Windows Task Scheduler Anyway if in your system currently the CCleanerCrashReporting task isn't set to run you can leave it as it is so you would avoid that annoying screen flickering. If a subsequent CCleaner update should fix CCleanerCrashReporting task error, if you wish you could rename CCleanerBugReport.exe to CCleanerBugReport.bak like I suggested, to prevent the screen flickering.

What are the opinions of CCleaner users on version 7? I think it's just a free version of AVG TuneUp, with no ability to disable the service in the background. 😢
Do not like it, for me this was the end of CCleaner. Using Windows built-in tools, autoruns and PrivaZer as alternative.
