App Review Emsisoft Anti-Malware Home 2024

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

I've also seen a vast improvement in their customer support; their staff is approachable and courteous.
Emsi's customer support just plain sucks. ALL the contacts I've had over the years are gone. The forum is gone (shown the door). Beta testers are gone (gotta PAY to TEST their software :ROFLMAO:). Gone, gone, and gone. Just like MY keys (money) and THEIR customers. You obviously are a fanboy, employee, or a newbie. You don't have a clue. Here's an example from another forum concerning their support (ineptness)...
Got this email this morning when asking for a refund:

"This is Khawer from Emsisoft. Thank you for reaching out.

The issue is known to our team and are currently working on it. Please click on false detection.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused."
You can make your own decisions. I have. (n)

100 Points Abomenten Falle / Subscribers fall ,
I have spoken here and elsewhere with Fabian Wosar about the Subscribers fall, but you stay with the Auto-Renewal which you can only cancel afterwards.
This and other decisions by the company have prompted me, as a long-time user, to stop using the product .
As will many more. Amen to your post. ✌️
I know that there is someone on here from Emsisoft, but assuredly, he won't say sh!t. And I have a sneaking suspicion of who exactly he is. 🤭

Just in case you didn't get it, the phrase "I've also seen" in my statement reflects what I've personally encountered, and I definitely would not like to identify by either of the nouns you threw at me.

I'd appreciate it if you could be a little more respectful with your words.

I had a VM parked on the side, so after seeing @Shadowra's review and various posts here (plus I had used happily Emsisoft in the past -- not sure why I stopped using it?) I just put Emsisoft Business (but not + EDR) on this win10_VM. So far mostly default settings. Playing nicely, and so far, seems light and surprisingly fast (no slowdowns experienced yet).

I just don't like their management console.
Really! I just logged into myemsisoft web console and like it. Enough info but not too busy (for me). I also had one chat with support which was helpful (to me) and one email reply about something else, so... so far the support has been timely and good, although both questions were more user snafu's than emsi issues.

Emsisoft always had a slightly higher RAM usage but never felt any slowdowns or felt it heavy. I do remember there was an issue back then with BD signature updates making system slow until it was completed. Bitdefender had a similar issue on my system.
My experience with Emsisoft customer support has always been positive. No complaints there. Overall, I liked it.

I've been running EAM/Business for the past few days, and I'm liking it a lot, or more & more. (I just bugs me that I cannot recall why I stopped using EAM...)

Oh, I remember now why I stopped using it. I had issues with FP, not too severe but somewhat annoying (also that update bug which they claim to have fixed in recent updates, I didn't test). BB would flag any unsigned app/installer as suspicious. And then I moved to Kaspersky which was lighter, almost no FP and decent protection. And I never looked back.

Edit: grammar

I installed the Home version. In my malware VM test it did good so far. So I installed it yesterday on a production computer. No issues with FP so far. Only one pop-up from the Behavior Blocker. It is a exe used by Gigabyte. Emsisoft created an application rule for it as it is a known safe file (but not digital signed).

Ram usage is

No issues or slowdows at the moment.

If you use well-known apps, you should not experience FPs.

First real issue with Emisoft. Steam is loading extremely slow. It takes appoximately 50 seconds before I can login. Some games are also slower. I played a bit with the file guard setting but no solution. The only solution is to exclude the whole Steam directory. I am not a fan to exclude the whole directory.

BB it still working. I find the screen very informative with a lot of option.

I've had no issues with Steam yet. However, the Behavior Blocker is very aggressive as was pointed out previously. My only real issue stems from web protection and watching livestreams on Twitch. I've noticed higher resource usage dedicated to monitoring this traffic. Similar things happened with Avast and ESET but I can whitelist Twitch URLs in those products. Can't seem to do the same thing in Emsisoft. The product does not do HTTPS scanning though? So not sure what is happening. Issue does not occur on YouTube.

It seems you sat the BB to Alert when it finds sth suspicious.

Been using Emsisoft again now for a few weeks, most happy with it - I really like the way it does a self set-up & remembers your settings so it's fit & forget almost, installation takes minutes - Along with F-Secure my favourite AV/AM.

I used it in the past & it did a good job. When it was time to renew I was shocked at the new yearly price! I guess they thought I was Warren Buffet. $$$$$$
I have seen that with many AVs; however, I just got an update notice from ESET and it was $39US which is probably what paid last year... I recall having the same experience with emsi several years ago. I started using emsisoft business again and I'm in the middle of my first year subscription. I'll watching for renewal.
