Kaspersky is better then comodo... Comodo is a other category of products... Paid x free...
Kaspesky have a had lot more tools and resources.. Kaspersky on the head!

I fully agree, played with 3 different versions of Kaspersky Internet Security, also played with Bitdefender Internet Security, both work very well (including their firewalls). You also don't need to install: Firewall (from vendor 1), malware detector (from vendor 2), spyware (from vendor 3), antivirus (from vendor 4). Let's not forget that most of the 4 will end up being if lucky very average, if not lucky being very sub-par.

Unless you enjoy chopping and changing between one security suite and another every five minutes then just stick with what you have. However make sure to learn it inside out. With Kaspersky and it's gargantuan number of options that will keep you busy for some time ;)

If played with 2009, 2014, 2017, there is nothing to configure (same as with Zone Alarm Firewall).

I would say all of this depends on you, your KNOWLEDGE, your USES, and Your SYSTEM.

The underline being a very important part of this equation, because if you are a install and forget kind of user, that has no experience what so ever tweaking advanced settings in your security, then your going to find yourself having a lot of trouble handling CIS. If you have not yet gone into the advanced settings in KIS, you should do that as well and learn them, as you can lock the system down to the point of effective.
Im not voting for any product in this thread, im urging you to think about your abilities, then if comfortable trying, test out CIS or tweak some settings on KIS and see where it leads you considering your use of the system at that point.

Hi aliali,
I used many versions of Kaspersky product, connected to many sites which I know are badly infected with all sorts of malware, spyware, etc. and not once was my computer infected (same goes for Bitdefender), also not once did my computer hang or crash with either of them.

With Comodo Free Firewall, enabling Paranoid Mode (HIPS) froze my computer, I use usb-stick for internet, 'File Rating, File List' (keeps on prompting 'there is no disk in the drive. Please insert disk into Drive G):). The blocked intrusions list (every entry mentions memory accessed). the Network Intrusions list (gives 0 always - even after going to various sites, using Zone Alarm I actually get a few IP addresses which were blocked). I am a first time user, installed it 3 times since yesterday, same result. Used webroot, avira, panda, norton, avg, trend, vipre, avast, none of them had such a flaky product). Windows 10 firewall itself is much better (lists all windows apps - by default some are allowed and others not - you can allow or block whichever you feel like via decent interface).

I viewed your video, if Kaspersky is such a bad product why did it do so well below.

Then your in a position to try Comodo Internet Security.Nothing wrong with trying out another product.
There quite a few good products but it is difficult to make any decisions based on other members preferences.
Comodo is free, that is one advantage.Trying it will let you know if it is a good fit for you and your machine.

fully agree - difficult to make any decisions based on other members preferences.
You need to check any product out yourself (to see if it actually works and is reliable, if you enjoy using it, it it's hassle free)

Comodo IS is more on advance users whi wants to experiment the configuration critically. Sandbox, HIPS and firewall are came with different effectiveness.

Meanwhile KIS provide balance yet comprehensive which is effective in casual matters.

Application Control is not so hard to configure but the effectiveness shown already to be useful.

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but I did see a member on here tht was using KIS and Comodo internet security with everything disables but the autosandsox to get that little bit of extra protection. It looks great in writing, although I would have though even if you installed both and disabled everything but the sandbox in Comodo that you may still have driver issues/conflicts.

Hello what it all comes down is YOUR preferences and needs. Other people can tell you what is the most secure to use , but it does not necessarely mean that you Will have to follow those tips. My suggestion is to grab a copy of shadow defender and install kaspersky or comodo as a tryout ( in shadow mode ) to see what suits you and your needs best. Shadow defender is needed if you want to deinstall kis or cis , you don't have to worrie about special uninstallers / tools to remove leftover drivers , folders and registry items. Especially with comodo , trust me....iv'e been there and I have definately learned my lesson. As you know kaspersky and comodo are 2 different security products ; one relies on proactive default deny , the other on signatures B.b and other flashy whistles and Bells wich have failed missarable against a ransom a while back , as shown in cruelsisters video....ask her , she is not in the least bit a fan of the Russian security vendor. So Some product are way overrated and too overprized for what they offer. Comodo can be a good product with good features plus a ton of bugs. Configured properly it can be like for knox. The av module of cis is very weak. I wish you good luck in making your descisscion ;) :)

Both can be configured for default-deny; so either one will work equally well in this regard.

If you want to create a lot of complicated rules, then I would wait until COMODO announces a fix for the "disappearing rules" bug.

However, it is free - and the sandbox can be configured to be default-deny - or you can just run with the auto-sandbox.

Personally, of the two, I favor COMODO - as I had better results with it on my specific systems.

Tried Comodo Free Firewall, Bitdefender IS 2017 (30-day trial), Kaspersky IS 2017 (30-day trial). Installed Comodo on 15 Sept, Bitdefender 2017 on 17 Sept, Kaspersky 2017 on 19 Sept 2016, I will stick with Kaspersky. Comodo was the worst (actually a joke, perhaps the paid version is better - who knows). Tested all 3 for malware, spyware, network intrusion, etc. Kaspersky also offers webcam protection from all applications. Everything Kaspersky says it does, it actually does - tested it. Both Bitdefender and Kaspersky add rules for application automatically, so no need to add a list manually as with Comodo, Kaspersky's is even better than Bitdefender. Before you say anything about BOOSTING Comodo and belittle Bitdefender or Kaspersky - install both and play with them, after you've installed Kaspersky IS 2017 (trial) and viewed the myriad of options added to it's settings - you won't go back to anything else. If you want to import my configuration for Kaspersky IS 2017 (trial) or Proactive Security config for Comodo (very basic), email me at nikolai1kevin@gmail.com, will gladly email it to you. As they say, don't listen to others opinions, try it out yourself and keep that you think is best for you.

The av module in all products ain't brilliant, even Microsoft. Yet Kaspersky and Bitdefender get the top 1-3 places year on year, quite good for a bad av module. Comodo's entire app is weak. I agree all av (anti-virus) and IS (internet security) are pricey (but you need to realize that anything that's free won't have the frequent updates, same av or malware engine, features or speed - the purchase version has, if it was the case then all av & IS companies would go out of business (why buy if you get it all for free). Ransom, a marketing gimmick (like added to Bitdefender) only put your files in a protected store (don't see that the reason for me going to buy Bitdefender - I keep all my important files on a usb drive - which I don't connect to my laptop when on the internet - so no-one is going to keep my files and ask my cash for it).

To weed out all the fake av and IS products, perhaps we should get an independent company to verify how good all of them are against malware, spyware, network intrusion, etc. Who seconds that, so far we've been fed the same crap the medical industry has fed us () wait for advert to finish - takes a minute or so.

Ok, what do you use (can you export your configuration file and email it to me), can you state if you tested it against malware, spyware, etc. or you got it just because it's free or you like it.

I use:
  • AppGuard
  • Windows Defender
  • Windows Firewall
  • uBlock Origin or Adguard
  • Rollback RX
That's it.

I have multiple systems.

I never get infected or hacked. Oh, the occasional browser hijack will happen - but that is something that CCleaner will remove.

I've tested just about every AV\Internet Security suite there is against malware, for usability, for problems. They were all a disappointment in one way or another.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 vs Comodo Internet Security 8?

What color do you like? Red or Blue?
What care do you prefer? Mercedes or BMW?
What do you like more? Apples or Oranges?

No disrespect to the topic starter.
But please.... A VS B topic

How about this: Try one brand stick with it for lets say the trial period, and then test the other brand for the same amount of time and then report back and make your choice.

Because here on MT (Again please no disrespect) there is a spam regarding VS topic's, and other then adding post/topic count they do not contribute. Specially if in one topic member X claims brand X is the greatest and in 2 hours in a different topic says: brand X sucks..
Even products being compared while they are pretty much exactly the same the only difference is the build number. Lol

Back on topic.
Comodo (I respect them for what they try to do) but it does not get my vote.
Kaspersky? What good can i possible say that has not already been said in their 10+ years of proven security?
Kaspersky is one of those very fortunate companies who deliver top class security and remain doing so.
Sure bugs and issues do happen with any product... And testing scores might vary from month to month.
But Kaspersky is not going to let you down.

Kind Regards,
Nico

I'm not particularly fond of the AV - X versus AV - Y either...

  • I also used it up to a week ago, plenty ran some programs to detect hacks, malware & spyware, I was being accessed from many countries (I don't go to porn ites, warez sites, torrent sites - I always keep it safe), I also realized that windows firewall by default not only opens up for skype but for lync too (lync is not required for skype to work), lync can be used as a back door onto your computer for remote admin (similar to teamviewer). I like Microsoft products so won't say anything further.
