Microsoft has released another weekly update for Edge in the Dev channel. Version 105.0.1336.2 is now available with several minor improvements on different platforms.

Microsoft has implemented another privacy-related feature in its browser by adding support for Encrypted Client Hello or ECH. Encrypted Client Hello is a mechanism in Transport Layer Security protocol (TLS) that enhances privacy by encrypting all privacy-sensitive parameters of the TLS connection.

TLS is a cryptographic protocol a client (browser) and server use to exchange encryption keys (handshake). The current implementation of TLS leaves several privacy-sensitive parameters—such as Server Name Indication that shows what server communicates with the client—without encryption. The Encrypted Client Hello extension fixes this long-standing privacy leak by providing full handshake encryption and protection from network eavesdropping. Microsoft Edge on Android gets improved video ad blocking​

As spotted by Leopeva64-2, Edge for Android has received a new experimental flag to improve how the browser blocks ads. With the new configuration, Edge for Android should block video ads better, such as YouTube prerolls. According to Leopeva64-2, the flag blocks video ads reasonably well, but your experience might be slightly different.

To test the updated ad blocker in Microsoft Edge on Android, download the browser from the Google Play Store and go to the edge://flags/#edge-block-video-ads page. Set the flag to Enabled and restart the browser. After that, try opening YouTube or any other website containing video ads.

Microsoft's Eric Lawrence has explained in a dedicated blog post that the company has been working on a "SuperRes" or "Enhance Images" technology for Edge. Simply stated, this leverages Microsoft's machine learning service to enhance the quality of the images being displayed in the browser.

As of now, only a small percentage of Edge Stable, Dev, and Canary have the capability enabled through trial flags. You can check if you have it by heading over to edge://flags and enabling Enhance images in Microsoft Edge. Those who do manage to enable it will also see an "HD" icon in the omnibox that they can leverage to toggle image enhancement.

Hello again insiders, earlier this week we released the newest build to the Dev channel. We have added new features, fixed current issues, and improved reliability. We have also changed the behavior of other items as well, as we do weekly.

Version 107.0.1390 restored a number of Chromium flags that were removed years ago, among which: the ability to Mute site, rather than tab, reader mode flags and History page shortcut.

Microsoft now ships two updates per day in the Canary channel. The company says this will allow it to take advantage of "the great rapid feedback" it gets from Edge Insiders and deliver new code faster. Increasing the number of updates means users will have to restart the browser more frequently. Still, Microsoft says users can use Edge Canary without restarts as long as they wish. Also, some days will have only one or even no updates at all.

Changes in the Canary channel currently apply just to Windows. Edge Canary on Linux, macOS, and Android will continue receiving daily releases.

Reddit user Leopeva64-2 claimed that the new resizeable Sidebar is available in the latest Edge Canary update, but we have not been able to reproduce the change in Edge Canary Version 107.0.1417.0. Hence, it could be a controlled rollout. Thankfully, the Reddit user has posted some images explaining how it works.

First off, you do not need to enable a flag to be able to resize the Sidebar. It is available by default if Microsoft has rolled it out for you. If you are one of the lucky ones, you need to hover your mouse pointer over the space that separates page content from the sidebar pane. Upon doing so, you will see a double arrow that allows you to resize the pane.
