@Jack

For MT url-scanner, I am getting this message in Firefox all the time now:
Scan failed: Verification took too long - this can happen on VPNs or slow networks. Click again to retry. Try again.
This doesn't happen in Edge.

Not so much about the site issues as such but a close friend had his android phone taken over by the evil ones a couple of days ago, as I'm not an android user the section on MT on removing malware on androids was incredibly helpful & with that we removed the offending apps etc & all was sorted in an hour or so thanks a million for those help sections!! :)

I'm not sure why, but I've noticed that recently when I visit any section of the "What's new" page, the CPU spikes and the disk writes increase for hundreds of MB in seconds. If I let it run in the background, it could become a gigabyte, as it did for me once. Additionally, I noticed today that uBlock Origin blocks thousands of elements on that page, whereas previously it only blocked two elements for me when I visited any page in MT.

Here's a comparison between the uBlock Origin blocks on this page and the "What's new" page, which will, incidentally, keep growing as long as it remains open:

uBo blocks Reddit.

I've noticed something similar as well.

Initially, I thought it was only happening on the "What's New" page, as the uBlock Origin counter was increasing very rapidly. However, after performing some additional checks, I noticed that the forum's homepage exhibits the same behavior.

In my tests, the forum homepage exceeded 1,000 blocked requests in uBO, while the "What's New" page exceeded 2,000 while left open.

I haven't yet investigated which specific requests or domains are being blocked, so I can't determine the cause. However, it seems that this behavior isn't limited to the "What's New" section, although the counter appears to increase even faster there.

I'm sharing a few screenshots in case they might be helpful in investigating the issue.📈⚠️

Do you mean that uBlock Origin is attempting to block all Reddit content within the forum pages at once, which is the cause of the CPU and disk write problems?

@Halp2001
Thank you for your input. I was considering going back to the previous theme because I thought it might be related to the new one, but it appears that themes are not the problem.

@ghostkernel
Do you use any adblockers? If so, which one do you use?

I do not use anything but nextdns.

Seeing such a spike with ubo, and not seeing anything abnormal in nextDNS tells me it's probably an aggressive loop script or tracking framework trying to bypass blocking. Try refreshing the page while looking at the logger window in ubo and narrow down which blocked item is causing it.

@Sampei.Nihira I think your observation about the Reddit requests may have been on the right track.

I did a few additional checks on the "What's New" page because I was still seeing the uBlock Origin counter increasing over time.

Using Edge DevTools, I noticed repeated requests to:

which are being blocked as ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT. The error count continues to increase while the page remains open.

I also checked Edge's Task Manager and noticed that the page is loading an embed.reddit.com subframe.

In my case, CPU usage remains very low, so I'm not seeing any major performance impact, but I thought the screenshots might be useful in case they help explain why some of us are still seeing the counter rise on the "What's New" page.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. 👍🔍

Same with AdGuard. It's only on the "What's New" page.

But from where these reddit requests are coming from? I don't see any embedded reddit content on the what's new page.

And if I would have previously checked the What's New link, would have been a different story? Is there such a thing as Reddit Bot's trolling that sub forum?
