New Update Trend Micro home products version 17.9

I hit Exit on the system tray icon, downloaded the new 2026 version, then this told me what I needed to know. I don't see any cosmetic UI changes. The settings seem to be the same as well? Eventually @Zartarra or @nickstar1 could probably tell us more from their experience with TM, than my 2 days of trial.

This will require granular analysis of the 40-50 modules to tell what’s new.

I managed to DL it but I haven't installed it as it tends to revert some settings to default from experience in the past??
On my install it reverted my Hypersensitive protection level to automatic, and Web threats from high to normal. I didn't do very much tweaking other than the background which I had to reset again.

The hypersensitive mode is one setting from user perspective, but it modifies quite a lot (hence they called it a mode). It increases the scope of behavioural monitoring, it enables detection of unseen exploits (in normal mode it looks just for known ones), it activates aggressive behavioural enforcement policies and aggressive scan (which will be triggered if a normal scan detects certain number of malware) and it turns on the new file warning.

Trend Micro nowadays updates the behavioural blocking files daily (used to be every now and then, like once a month).

@Trident I posted a thread question if they, Jack would allow a designated Trend Micro thread in Security Apps forum. It's under review so well see if they think there's enough demand to create it, let alone the forum real estate to add it. There's been a lot of good information here by yourself and the other members posts, thank you @Zartarra for keeping us up to date with Trend and the links you provided here and in the other thread, that it would be nice if all of that was cataloged in one Trend Micro App forum.

Unfortunately from a very brief test, protections is not the McAfee or Norton level. May see a vid soon.
I have no doubt. From what I've been gathering here with @Shadowra's review, of some YouTube tests, and a couple of articles read, I was left with a so/so assessment of Trend (last couple of days of research). But in my case, having used F-Secure anything was a step up in regards to development, app maintenance, technology etc. that I'm liking it for the settings provided, the Program Update log files, online protection? and for the amount of information on this forum, helped ease some of that concern for me. But yes, there is better, just not sure with my limited sites visited and very few app/file downloads (i.e. I could still be using F-Secure) that it's going to be a concern, especially with how it's been performing.

I'd love to see what you come up with :) :)

edit: and what's nice, is you were able to download 17.9, which will be the most current version used in what your test comes up with.
