My Thoughts
My brother TDC saw this movie, and he mentioned it a few times.So we started watching it one night during the New Years 2025 to 2026 holiday.
When we were all off from work.
My brother CC made a surprise visit on New Year’s Day, so he was there too.
Everyone else went to sleep before it was over except for my brother CC and I.
I actually shed one tear during one emotional scene.
I was laying on the floor on my back on my Japanese futon.
My eyes started to tear up.
Then one tear fell out of my right eye.
So this is officially on my lists of movies that made me cry now.
The ending was too abrupt and unexplained, though.
But I still think it is worth watching at least once.
I would rate it a 3.5 out of 5.
David Jonsson had a standout performance, I hope he gets more work in the future.
It was also good seeing Judy Greer get some work again.
I came across the trailer and even though it’s from ’96, it made me want to watch it now. From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) is that rebellious cousin who mixes genres like someone mixing drinks at a roadside bar: it starts off as a fugitive thriller and ends up as a vampire carnival packed with action, humor, and chaos.
The funny thing is, in today’s age of endless streaming and algorithms recommending even the toothbrush you didn’t ask for, this handmade ’90s flick still feels relevant. It doesn’t try to be modern, but its unfiltered madness is fresher than plenty of so-called “smart” productions out there.
Wrinkles and all, it still bites hard—a reminder that cinema can be a playful excess, unapologetic and shameless.

My Thoughts
Like the Castlevania animated TV show.This animated TV show borrows about the same animation style et cetera.
It manages to be average, with some good action scenes here and there.
Not as good as Castlevania overall, though.
I do respect the rare addition of the topic of slavery, racism, and more diversity being brought up.
But I do not like some of the unnecessary elements that they added.
While there are things to like about it and Castlevania.
This show did not linger with me very long.
A watch it once type of show.
While rewatching some of the best scenes from time to time.
I was not that interested in seeing season 2.
So I have not seen it yet.
But I probably will watch that season too.
I would rate this a 3 out of 5.

CASTLEVANIA: NOCTURNE (2023) Season 1 Recap & Honest Review:
Haven’t watched Nocturne yet, but it’s already on my “pending list” (the eternal backlog we all pretend to manage
). So I won’t say a word about it until I’ve actually seen it.What I did watch was the original Castlevania series, and that one really nailed the mix of gothic atmosphere, sharp dialogue, and characters torn between duty and despair. Trevor’s sarcasm, Sypha’s fire, and Alucard’s melancholy gave the show a balance that made it more than just monster hunting—it felt like a dark philosophical ride with whips and magic.
If Nocturne manages to capture even half of that spirit, then my backlog just got a lot more exciting.

The Pendragon Cycle: Rise of the Merlin
Just a few episodes in and it’s clear the show wants to play in the epic league: landscapes painted like medieval canvases, solemn music, and a Merlin who swings between visionary druid and experimental theater actor

The blend of myth and history works, though it feels more like reinterpretation than fidelity. Visually it’s promising; narratively we’ll see if the magic lasts longer than the budget.
In short: an ambitious start, with shades of Vikings and Game of Thrones, but wrapped in its own mystical vibe.

I liked the Merlin TV show and the idea of mythologies / religions / deities / demi-deities interacting.

: the rescue of a child from the waters recalls Moses, and there are passages that evoke the beginning of a Christian—or at least monotheistic—era 
, with echoes of the apostles, though not in a literal way. That blend gives the story a distinctive flavor and opens the door to broader interpretations. Let’s see how they develop it in the upcoming episodes

My Thoughts
I did not realize that I did not review this final season.I am just realizing this on the last day of 2025.
So I can not remember most of my thoughts on this season.
I probably did not like it as much as the earlier seasons, I think.
There were probably some flaws that continued to grow.
And I assume that I was glad that they ended it instead of continuing a downward trajectory.
But I could be wrong.
There were still some things that I probably liked here and there.
This show had a unique premise, and had more potential that it never reached.
I still would recommend seeing it at least once.
It would be cool if someone took this franchise and did even better with it.
Especially people with real military and government experience and / or knowledge.

I did not realize that I did not review this final season.
I am just realizing this on the last day of 2025.
So I can not remember most of my thoughts on this season.

My Thoughts
I found out about this TV show by accident.I saw a thumbnail for the trailer on YouTube, so I watched the trailer.
After watching the trailer, I liked the concept for this TV show. I felt that it had potential.
I might like it. So, I decided that I would watch it when it came out.
The first episode was not bad. I do wish that they would have explained a few more things, though.
I do like how the tone was more serious than what Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina has become.
I wish that the TV show would have kept more of this tone.
Unfortunately, this show quickly stopped trying to be more realistic.
This issue was especially obvious with the military elements.
The military aspects became more and more unbelievable. At times, they were even stupid.
They did not explain enough about how magic worked. There was also not enough explanation about the lore.
The worldbuilding was incomplete. They had time to explain those things.
But, they wasted that time with extra unnecessary romance, drama, and time-wasting instead.
I wanted to like this show. I expected to like it more. Yet, it ended up disappointing my brother GC and me.
This disappointment is enough for us to possibly not watch the next season.
The concept of this show had potential. The costumes were pretty good at times. The acting was acceptable enough.
Yet, the writing, directing, and realism failed in comparison to those things.
The last episode got so stupid. My brother GC and I kept pausing it to point out all the problems.
We laughed at some stupidity. Before that, we were not looking forward to each new episode.
It would be nice if someone else could take this concept and make a better show.
The show should be more realistic, especially about the military aspects.
It should also be less sexist, or at least more equal among the sexes.
They went overboard with the female focus and false empowerment.
At times, it was guiltier than some sexist male-focused shows.
This is a shame because they had an opportunity to show a better example for both females and males.
This show had a teen book-to-film-type style.
The approach and feel tried to cater to a more adult audience with TV-acceptable sex, et cetera.
Yet, it failed in some ways common with that genre.

My Thoughts
This season started with the same approach that the earlier season shifted too eventually.My brother GC & I did not like this change.
The prior season had a good start, but it started to go in a worse direction.
This had me concerned that this season would lose us. I worried that my brother GC and I would give up on it.
Fortunately, the later episodes were the best of this season. They saved this show for me.
My brother GC is possibly giving up on this show now. He will possibly not watch the next season.
I plan on watching the next season.
I like the concept of this show. They need some new people to help fix some issues.
These changes will keep them moving in a better direction.
