Actually, I will not offer any adv for me; my start menu is almost empy. And I even took a screen shot of the start menu opened pre update to compare, and didn't notice a difference.
What I need more is dark mode for legacy Notepad.

After installing that update, I haven't noticed any of the supposed changes either. Administrator Protection, which I thought to be the most interesting news, was also said to be included. It's nowhere to be found in my security settings, though.Same here.
I'm not sure on my end either, not getting an additional Windows Hello prompt or have a toggle option? After installing that update, I haven't noticed any of the supposed changes either. I do the same. I take incremental image (usually takes less than a minute) and install updates. If anything breaks I restore the image (takes arround 5 minutes) and wait untill they fix the problem.A C:\ image on this PC only takes 24 seconds, I have no reason not to, pretty failsafe, but that's just me![]()
That's ridiculous. I'll pass on the new Start menu. They're crazy at Microsoft. The new menu can only be activated manually.
This news was released a few days ago:
Windows 11 finally has a new and much-improved Start menu, here is how to enable it
I don't even use Start much. Mostly taskbar. That's ridiculous. I'll pass on the new Start menu. They're crazy at Microsoft.
It will probably roll out more widely as time goes on.It's a shame they didn't make it easier, something that to enabled it could be enabled via a start menu right-click option, or from the Settings?
Probably because you uninstalled while it was still in the install process, so it just proceeded to install it again.I uninstalled the preview update. When I then ran Windows Update, Windows immediately started reinstalling it. Windows Update didn't suggest it to me; it just started the update process right away. It's unbelievable what Microsoft gets up to.
Same here, the only things I pretty much access from start that I don't have on my taskbar, are Defrag and Disk Cleanup. Otherwise, it's so much quicker just to tick the taskbar app icons.I don't even use Start much. Mostly taskbar.
The preview update has been showing as installed in the update overview for several days now. What else was being installed in the background is a mystery to me.I don't even use Start much. Mostly taskbar.

I rarely use the Start menu either. I launch programs either via the taskbar or via icons on the desktop.Same here, the only things I pretty much access from start that I don't have on my taskbar, are Defrag and Disk Cleanup. Otherwise, it's so much quicker just to tick the taskbar app icons.
I use taskbar for the most frequently used apps, and keep the less frequent ones for start menu; I do not visit desktop at all, even recyle bin was removed.I rarely use the Start menu either. I launch programs either via the taskbar or via icons on the desktop.

Me too; it is a shorter trip than to desktop.I'm not sure how to say this but, I actually like the 11 start menu, I do have some shortcuts on my desk but I use the start menu a fair bit & I do like it (are we still friends?)![]()
yes, and the update continues to fail after a complete clean install I guess I'll have to wait for a fix as at this point nothing much more I can do.You clean install what version 25H2?
