I have two users one with an M$ account and one that's a local admin only. But a third user is showing, but it is not a user on this computer. It is my wife's user account from her computer.

ah, all of mine have strong passwords set. I'm not too worried about this, but it does give me a nudge to revert to WD for the 2004 update.
in my case, when I have played a game, the bitdefender product went into game mode, and went from consuming 250 mb to consuming 90 mb of ram, in my case.

I’m not sure what you mean by this. I installed on 2 pcs that only had used WD and it worked fine. No special process. No issues.
Yes ,trying bitdefender now and wow 360megs, still quick a bit but I already miss norton.
Unless you have limited memory this isn't really a problem. Now if you are limited on RAM, it could be an issue.
Norton/Symantec only got new technologies buying start ups (it was like that to SONAR, Firewall, etc) they stopped buying other companies to acquire technology a lot of time ago, they only don't get old because when they launched these technologies they were step forward from competition and it can handle until nowadays with minor changes.
But that's not new, and these things is still better than a lot of companies, specially for home user. We have to calm down, Norton still has a lot of clients and it is bundle in a lot of PCs (Acer, etc). They have assets.
I also suffered with Bitdefender FPs.I actually uninstalled my BD trial because it started creating files in C/Windows/Debug and flagging those as malware, there is also a file called PASSWD.log that got filled with samchangepassworduser2 each time I turn on my laptop. Uninstalling BD just cleared those and PASSWD.log is always empty, maybe BD creating fake warnings to make users think the product is actively protecting them?.

I liked that Bitdefender right after installing is suggesting to active automatic profile change, it's one of the nicest things about it.
i really liked it too. i tried a lot of AV and i feel some heavy during working. Bitdefender is the only one that plays well with my work softwares. thanks to its work profile. it is a very good option.
How does this work? Running a full screen application is usually an indicator for AVs to start the gaming mode. How does other profile mode works for Bitdefender?
Battery mode when the battery is low (postpone updates and other tasks)
Work profile is set here when I open Office apps (Word, Excel, etc) and Adobe apps (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc).
Bitdefender doesn`t require full screen to activate its profiles. you choose in each profile any program you want and when you open this program, the right profile works immediately.
I think they have a known applications list for each profile.
I see. That's good enough. In general I think it's not really a CPU/IO heavy AV something like Windows Defender which suffers from high CPU usage during startup of applications and while doing moderate to heavy tasks. But anyway, the profile concept of Bitdefender sounds nice. Do you keep it turned on? (oops! that's almost a naughty sentence, lol).
