New Update ESET v18

It all started with the ridiculous liveguard feature only available on the premium version and above, and now this is the case. It's as if they offer their solutions under premium and ultimate for free and don't bring any improvements. Competitors' free antivirus software is a more complete solution than eset.

This is exactly where I'm at and what I'm thinking. Right now I have Eset Premium running on a notebook, F-Secure on a Desktop and AVG free on this HP notebook. I'll keep evaluating AVG to be a replacement for both paid AV's, Eset expiring in Dec. With the understanding we have, and the free options that are out there, why would we, I give into "we have to have, you need to have" this version with these features$$?!

It's not that ransomware remediation is a must-have kind of protection. If their document protection feature works, you shouldn't need remediation in the first place. I can understand restricting a feature to a certain product tier. But geo-locking a feature to a product that isn’t even available in all markets feels like discrimination to me, and that’s something I can’t support.

From this point of view, the future of the NOD32 level is dark indeed.
Well, it's the last independent European antivirus that doesn't burden the system, doesn't have bloated functionality, has never been involved in personal data scandals, and offers settings for advanced users... I still don't see any real alternative to it, even if some of the less useful features are being moved to the Ultimate version. For me, if a ransomware manages to launch on the system, that's a reason to roll back from a backup, since I can't know what other payloads might have been deployed or how stable the system will be in the future, even if the antivirus manages to revert the changes. But I agree that Eset might lose some users due to this kind of policy. It really is worth going to their forum and sharing this feedback.

Ransomware remediation feature is of value only for those who forget to perform files backup everytime files are changed or new files are added.
I agree totally - But that's most people apart from the likes of us that inhabit this & similar forums & he few who taking backing up seriously & on my view of the basic PC user that aint many - it matters little to me what ESET does but with the real advances Defender along with other mainstream free AV from big names is making I would have though those who SELL AV solutions would be pulling out all the stops to give advantages to excellent free solutions.
I have Emsisoft on this PC so its not my argument, but (are) I've been a customer of ESET since day one.

"It's a pre-release build you can setup in the settings."
According to Eset 18.1.13.0 is the latest version.

Doesn't this only show stable releases?
I have been reading on the thread on ESET forums:
ESET NOD32 Antivirus, ESET Internet Security, ESET Smart Security Premium version and ESET Security Ultimate 18.2.14 have been released on the pre-release update channel and are available for download.

ESET... Shoes are our main game, but the soles come at a premium, and laces are the ultimate accessories sold separately! 😊
