I haven't found this thread until now

So, this is the meaning of my nick:

harlan: taken from an Isaac Asimov novel -> The End Of Eternity, the main protagonist is "Andrew Harlan" (is an Eternal and an outstanding Technician - a specialist at implementing reality changes)

4096: my 1st steps in Computers Science was with my beloved Commodore VIC-20 (3'5 KBytes RAM), and 4096 was the memory address where starts BASIC RAM:

Derived from Native American culture.

Native Americans believed that animals/animal spirits were guides/teachers who taught valuable life lessons through their own unique characteristics, traits, and habits. The Squirrel for example stood for Gathering, it taught you to prepare for times to come, to always store a little something extra just in case.

The Wolf:
Was a pathfinder/teacher. The wolf left his pack "family" often to go out ahead of them, alone, learning, forging new paths, and came back to his tribe/family to teach what he learned. He was the protector over them as well.

I use this name, as, right now, it is quite fitting.
Im quite like a sponge in my older years, learning new things daily, and sharing this with my family, finding ways to help them over come obstacles, teaching them to adapt, and showing them a better/new path to take, and watching over them ready to become a one man army at a moments notice should they ever need protected.

Many years ago, about 18 years i think i was putting my jeans on on a cold winters morning and i got a hell of a fright as there a frog in one of the legs and my wife started calling me frogboy so when i joined MT i said to my wife what should i pick as a username and there you have it frogboy was born. :D
This thread may be fun to read after getting used to MT for a while. It is because I think that you can know the unexpected aspect of a member you do not know except writing.
The episode from @frogboy 's name comes from a happy atmosphere. I like it very much.:giggle:

Love this thread. What I consider the most important lesson in my life came from a native American here in GA. Actually, it was in AL when I met a man who explained to me some things about the beliefs of his tribe. Straightened me out about how each living thing has a place :). My experiences with native Cherokees here in GA all came back to me, and I gained a new appreciation for the importance of every decision...as stoic as that sounds. I am grateful to him and to the others who have imprinted my life. I'm crazy about native tapestry art btw...

My name is so stupid only I could have thought of it. That's why I have it o/c. When I got my first PC and then got on the internet (1995), I quickly found myself setting up a hotmail account. Well, I didn't know much about the internet and how creative everyone is, so I thought I was supposed to come up with something that identified me in as short a combination of letters as possible. So it's my city (Atlanta) + my nickname (Bo).

Horrible name and I hate it, but I will continue to use it because I don't want 1000 nicknames all over the internet to remember LOL. I'm not very good with name associations I guess.

(y) to all of you with your creative and meaningful names. I might as well have been named by a Google bot honestly...

PathFinder, I totally agree with your descriptions, both about Native American beliefs regarding animals and your self-described feelings.

Coincidentally, my username is Russian for "lone wolf". I was in the USAF and was a Russian linguist aboard airborne "spy missions" during the secretive part of the cold war. That was my nick name.

I'm a big fan of Tolkien, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
Unfortunately when I wanted to register on another forum the username Gandalf was already in use, so it became Gandalf_The_Grey.
I watched all The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films with my father.
When the last Hobbit movie The Battle of the Five Armies came in the cinema my son was finally old enough to join us.
It was great going to the movie with 3 generations.
This year my father passed away and my username still reminds me of the great times we had together.

Using this username for 10 years or so. When I first registered for some website it didn't allow me to create any "normal/common" user-names because they were all not available, and finally found one that wasn't used.

And I got stuck to it like a man's wife! :D

Is it time that maybe Woman keep their own name in marriage, I'm sure it would be awkward for a time but this should be considered now.
