Watch out, because the Comodo Dragon will bite you and lurk for a few days while you slowly die from the large numbers of lethal bacteria in their mouths. Then they will devour you when you are too weak to fight.

On another note; If you want a nice, hassle free AV, utilize Avast Free Edition.

I honestly don't know about prearranged security suites. I choose to utilize Sandboxie for surfing off the grid, and I utilize Threatfire AV at Level 5. Threatfire is more like a software firewall and behavior blocker in one. I generally don't recommend this for anyone other than experts. You will have a lot of pop-ups to deal with until Threatfire is set to your likings.

Take a read here. Look at the User Guide, it has some useful information.
http://malwaretips.com/Thread-EMET-3-0

I don't have EMET 3.0 installed, but most information is in the User Guide and links.

Hope this is a bit helpful.

Is EMET good to have, can anyone help me set it up and configure it.

Note on EMET, I had a try with installing it and stuff. I had a little mess about with it and I went to configure apps, file, import and imported the ALL.xml within the deployment folder.

Was that a good idea and will it do the job?

Thank you very much mate, very helpful indeed :) what I did seems ok, thank god lol.

Need to grab myself a few addons for Comodo nowto get that up and running.

As well as that Earth I just looked at your config and I intend on getting some of the apps specified in here,

System Maintenance: CCleaner+, IObit Uninstaller, Search Everything, FileHippo Update Checker, MS Disk Defrag/Disk Cleanup.
System Monitoring: CPUID Hardware Monitor, Microsoft Network Monitor, Network Activity Monitor, Windows Task Manager

Do you use them all for certain tasks or run them one after another when its time for maintenance?

Thanks.

Apologies Earth, your maintenance tools are for different jobs but on first glance I thought you had multiple cleaning tools :)

Thanks

Was having a look at my host files earlier and this came up when I was just seeing if I could add to it...

Is that anything to do with EMET or the settings I used for Comodo? (Chirons)

I suggest the following:
Real Time protection: ESET AV or VIPRE Internet Security 2012 (both are paid but you can test run it first), Avast Free AV or Comodo Internet Security (free)
On Demand Scanners: Malwarebytes Antimalware free plus Hitman Pro and Emsisoft Emergency Kit
Browser: Chrome/Firefox/Comodo Dragon with following extensions: Adblock Plus and WOT (site advisor)
Backup utility: Paragon Backup and Recovery or even Windows 7 default backup utility
HDD Defrag: Puran Defrag, Auslogics or Defraggler
Virtualization/Rollback: Most would recommend Sanboxie (which I also do), but other alternatives are Bufferzone Pro, Toolwiz Timefreeze, Returnil.
Unlocker Utility: Unlocker 1.9.1
Uninstaller: Revo Uninstaller Free
Ccleaner
Registry Defrag: Quicksys RegDefrag
Hardening: EMET 3.0

Thats my suggestions. Now handing over to the other guys:)

Very Well Said.

To be able to Modify the Hosts, you need to Take Ownership of this file.

Cheers guys, will try that later.

I had a bit of a issue this morning. After using Chirons guide to setting up Comodo I hit a hitch this morning when I turned my laptop on this morning. It was working perfectly fine last night but when I turned it on this morning I couldn't do anything on it, it was so so laggy it was unbelievable. Programs wouldn't load up, I couldn't click anything without it crashing or lagging somewhat. I could boot up in safe mode and that worked fine. I thought it was possibly with whatever I set EMET up as so uninstalled that, no look. I then tried CIS, once I uninstalled that it was fine! I have since cleared out all the old Comodo files and folders and reinstalled it and it is working fine now...

Anyone have any ideas as to why it happened after using that guide or a alternative setup?

Cheers,

Luke

it doesn't come from Chiron's Guide, since mine (at my CIS period) was even more tweaked and i never felt severe slowdown as you described.

something else is in cause.

Umbra the issue only resolved once I removed Comodo and reinstalled though, I did not do anything the night before it happened. I will however try it again and see if it goes bad again.

Thanks

You should check the log file if the issue reappear, it may be due to some extensive memory access blocked by D+

Yes mate, but when it happened this morning I couldn't get the program open to possibly check it lol. If so which log section do I look under, Antivirus, firewall or D+? Do you recommend any other protection for me to run alongside CIS?

Cheers mate, might be worth trying the previous version of EMET you think?

Thanks,

Luke

Ok mate, and what about another program to run alongside CIS? Any recommendations?

Does CIS cover online banking security too?

Blah, well my laptop just took a grand old dump!

I was looking about on the forum before turning laptop off for a little while earlier. Upon reboot my laptop just decided it was no longer going to work properly. It was lagging big time again, things were not responding or were taking roughly 5 minutes to load (not websites, actual mouse clicks!!) I noticed my icon was no longer in the system tray, when suddenly it reappeared as a yellow hazard logo :(

I tried a hard reset just to see if it helped. Nothing there. After leaving the laptop to sit for roughly 10-15 minutes after the second reboot I noticed the HIPS alerts started popping up with asking me to allow comodo dragon and other windows services. I couldn't help think it was a Comodo related problem, again :( I just thought I would try and remove Comodo and see what happened. I went to remove it and noticed there was two entries for CIS in there, I just removed 1 and thought the other would go after restart. Well after I restarted it was not gone and CIS was still in the system tray working away <-- LOL. This time when I click onto it I get....

"COMODO Internet Security is being initialized"

I went back to see if the entries from the add/remove were still there and yes they were. This was the case on ccleaner too.

Restarted my computer again and was left with the same issue, less lag but still had some. Only now though my computer was starting to act weirdly. My wireless connection was down and would not fully connect (limited connectivity) However other wireless users in the house were not having issues with the connection. Tried resetting wireless adapter, router, removing the wireless network and reconnecting it, nothing worked.

I was so fed up I just decided to grab the recovery disc I made with Macrium and go back to a backup I made previously.

I think I want to stay well shot of CIS and try another security suite or set up?

Side note - In the time I was on the laptop earlier before shutting down I did NOT install anything for this to happen.

Thanks,

Luke
