If you're downloading from a fast server, e.g. if you downloading from Microsoft, the download speed probably won't be any faster. However if you're downloading a file and the download speed is slower than the speed of your internet, then a download manager often can help, as it creates multiple connections to the same server. Usually the combined speed from multiple connections, will be faster than download speed of a single connection.
Why are we or you guys equating a DLM only with speed....

It has a lot more to do with being able to download hard to get files, and managing your downloads... Speed is not really a concern now compared to years ago.

I don't use one, programs I download (from any browser) from original DL folder then get moved with maybe relevant txt file into, Free & Paid or documents, photos etc. etc. if i need them again there they are, as my internet is pretty fast now most programs download in seconds or at most a minute so not sure why I need one?? I'm not so sure now what download managers do these days 25 years ago maybe??

I used IDM many years ago, then stopped for many years after parallel downloading became a flag in Chromium browsers. But lately, it seems many sites can detect Chromium's attempt to use parallel downloading and either stops that or throttles the speed. So, most of the time now I use, HTTP Downloader which is tiny. Only 1.28 MB.

Here's an example of a massive difference between browser download manager vs HTTP Downloader/any other decent download manager.
