Yep, I agree, it was at the back end of the subscription. Fortunately, mine was just about 2 weeks in. The first thing I do with these type of subscriptions is to disable the auto-renewal, as chances are they will offer you a better price to renew again about 2 weeks before your subscription ends. Which then means disabling auto-renewal again, as it will be turned back on when the renewal is made (at least with most of the AV vendors).I hate to be cynical but the reason they do this and offer an upgrade just before renewal is because they can charge you more for your next renewal on a higher plan.

@BigWrench I would confirm your auto-renewal is off as that upgrade may have turned it on, so that as @Zero Knowledge mentioned, it could just be a great way to get more money for the upgrade renewal. Then see if they offer you a better deal towards the end.
