As of now, there's no official confirmation from either Norton or Avast about this change. It's best to wait for an official announcement.

Their extension (safe web ) is already avast based
(You can just install the extension or Symantec endpoint if you prefer Symantec Norton and not avast Norton
safeweb is avastpng.png

i saw that but they are just trying to bring some clicks as they dont provide any prove that norton has taken avast engine instead of its own. all that this article has are things taken from the internet from unofficial sources.. :(
You can check the names of the files inside Norton and inspect traffic and see for yourself although they didn't announce it publicly they do use Avast now

I'm really not a fan of the new norton wayyyyy tooo much product advertisings in it's GUI. I do not need to know the amount of temporary files i have on my computer. I prefer the old Symantec. Go with the above stated Norton endpoint protection and Symantec browser protection.

Nothing from Gen Digital and Bitdefender is going to be installed on my systems.
Also nothing from Symantec is ever going to be installed.

Avast's modernized engine coupled with Gen's security research appears excellent on paper, but I agree, the clutter they tack on the experience is lackluster.

If only Symantec's aging engine could've been renewed and fine-tuned for today…

When you add suspicious catagory to Symantec browser protection it's actually really good and blocks sites checkpoint Miss

Basically I haven't found a single pishing link that could bypass checkpoint zero pishing and set to block uncategorized and Symantec set to block suspicious catagory

It's like gen digital got only the name from Norton as they don't use Symantec star (intelligence ) on the extension or the anti virus anymore maybe only Norton power eraser is the latest product they got with Symantec star
