Hey, is it possible to change systemwatcher to only allow files from ksn network is is it greyd out too?
no you can't
that feature is only available for KIS and KTS = application control or trusted application mode
system watcher has no connection with KSN. It's just a BB and exploit protector

in this version, you can opt-out from data collection, which is not present in the previous versions
it's also possible during the installation, in case you don't read it carefully

This new version (2019) appears to be the best release ever from Kaspersky; it is extremely light and nonintrusive on my machine, I simple dont feel the performance hit, meanwhile there are new technologies like scan scripts using AMSI and Self Defense with Microsoft System protected process technology.

Every protection module seems to be refined, default settings are much more agressive against PUPs/adwares and there are now special settings for privacy conscious users.

I dont know how the market will react against the Russian spy hysteria, but the product itself is a cut above the rest.

Ps: I tried the paid internet security version.

Hm, I wonder if changing "Security level" under Settings->General->Protection -> Security level setting it to Maximum Security level also affects locked down settings that are not available to users...

- When Kaspersky Free starts for the first time, its protection components are configured automatically according to rules created by Kaspersky Lab specialists. You cannot configure protection components.
To be fair, you can select Maximum/Optimal/Minimum Security Level, but you can not check, what the configuration is, so it is utterly useless.

I loved KAV Free, but as for this new version, it is time to remove it from my recommendations, such a pity, it was a great AV. :(

Now it is even better, default settings are fine. IMO System Watcher + Network Attack Blocker makes KAV Free much better than previous version.

I might have to replace Bitdefender Free for Kaspersky Free. Does Kaspersky Free automatically renew the license after 365 days? Do I have to create a new account?

Very impressive. Also, KAF was very very low in telemetry when I tested it and pointed a SIEM to it. So this just makes it even more impressive in terms of privacy.

that's the thing we have to sacrifice. They add the top BB + exploit protection + data mining opting out option => they withdraw the customization. Some settings like enabling PUP protection, exclusion, animation, network scanning are still available to be tweaked. I think it's still possible to increase the level of protection using the preset in the main UI
to be honest, if they still allow us to do so, almost nobody is gonna buy KAV. They'd rather use KFA and KIS

yes it will automatically renews when it expires. you don't have to create a new account. You don't need an account to use it. Just disconnect KFA from the account

What do you mean disconnect KFA from the account?

settings -> Additional protection tools settings -> disconnect... -> go back -> check it again
Capture.PNG

this will disconnect your account from the PC = log out
I have been using KFA/KIS for years without account

it's for account management, you can read the description in the screenshot
it has nothing to do with the protection

But they could at least show, what those locked settings are. They could be set to the minimum detection for all I know, it is very unsettling.

They're set to normal as default, and you can change them in the UI (generally), you only locked-out of changing each setting individually and making custom profiles.

I see no reason for all this negative behavior towards Kaspersky, with System Watcher it's currently the best Free Anti-Virus offer available.

And what is the default setting? You can only guess, because you can not see it.

Locked and hidden settings, that is not the same thing, I have never seen such a behaviour in any software. KAV is on my blacklist now.
