Is Microsoft Security Essentials a compatible AV? Remember a couple of years ago when the spokeswoman made a big uproar by suggesting using MSE with another more serious AV?

AS companion AV then highly suggest to take with a risk because setup combination are unofficial as I mentioned from previous post.

But as a solo AV yes it can be since its baseline protection isn't below to 60 percent of its detection capabilities.

slowdowns between CIS and EAM are mostly due to overlapping components. activate the one you prefer and disable the other. for example CIS web filter is bad, better use EAM one.

Slim chance that MSE would detect anything any decent AV product will; it'd just be more overhead at a minimum. Any decent AV product will disable MSE/WD anyway. It's there to keep fresh installations from being malware magnets until a decent security product is installed.

No, heh, pardon me but my humour hasn't worked very well lately...

I was just pointing out that CIS does not always work with itself, let alone other products.

With that combination; I highly recommend thinking of a change.

Not just you; I'm like zero for 10 so far..heh.

It's just BD free is 2013 and it failed to detect 150/170 malware samples in my last test. It could be that Win10 was an issue, however.
Not nice at all for Bitdefender...i think i will change though....at least to satisfy my "lust" for changing :D;)

I agree. I don't know why Microsoft Security Essentials still has any defenders left, with its abysmal testing. They seem to be getting fewer.

.

Don't worry it`s working just fine had a LOL moment with your previous comment. Maybe it`s in the set-up i.e. "this product is not compatible with the product your about to install. Do you wish to continue ? ..mmmmmh ?.... yeah.:D

Bye the way I never had a problem with CIS on XP or Win7.

I`m right in thinking that there has not been an engine update for Kingsoft AV since 2012 ??

Regards Eck:)

For a while now, I have gone between multiple security programs and am sometimes asked for a recommendation for free antivirus software. one of the antivirus programs i am always more than willing to recommend is Comodo Free Antivirus Software.
